This Skirt Is Too Big, But I Wore It Anyway

How to dress for your body and not your size, Atlanta Personal Stylist, Atlanta Influncer, Thrifted Street Style

If you read the title or even carefully inspected the pics in the post you might be wondering how did I managed to make this “too big” skirt look so well fitted. The secret is…. I ignored the tag size and tried it on!

Walking down the skirt aisle at the thrift store, I spotted this amazing mixed animal print skirt. Per usu, I inspected the skirt checking for any major damage and imperfections. This skirt, new with tags) was in pretty good condition minus the 3 strains of missing beading. Next I went to read the size on the tag… size 12!!! Facing defeat at having found such a fab skirt that was too big, I do what I almost always do when shopping - I tried it on and IT FIT!!!!

For far too long we’ve been conditioned to shop by size instead of fit. By I’m here to let you know that it’s totally okay to ignore label sizing. Besides no one can see what size you’re wearing anyway. Had I gone solely on the tag size I’d would have missed out on this awesomesauce skirt.

Just like I tell you to stop sleeping on shopping the mens section, don’t be afraid to branch out and peruse the racks that you’ve never touched before – the fits and styles might surprise you. When shopping for your next look, remember that clothes are meant to be styled and nothing matters less than the section of the store you find “it” in.
