How I Refashioned A Dress Into A Skirt

How I Refashioned A Dress Into A Skirt, Thrifted Fashion, Top Atlanta Personal Stylist, Top Atlanta Influencer

A few years ago I thrifted this garment. Although it didn’t have a lot of hanger appeal, I hoped it would look better on me… it didn’t. Even paired with a belt, moto jacket and funky black/white boots, the dress didn’t give me the look I was going for.

I was drawn to the dress because of the mix of black and green and the pattern. What sold me on this piece was how flowy the bottom half of the dress was. As much as I wanted it to work out as a dress, it didn’t. So… I took it to my seamstress and had her cut off the top part of the dress leaving me with a midi skirt.

*Since I didn’t like how the look came together when it was a dress, I didn’t take any pictures in it.

What I’m most excited about this now skirt is that I can style it a number of ways. For this look I decided to keep it simple and go with this black sleeveless bodysuit. The rolled sleeved detail just adds a little splash to the top part of this outfit. Instead of a plain black shoe, these orange with black polka dots block-heeled mules complimented this look perfectly.

As if the look wasn’t already winning, I added this awesome dark floral crossbody bag, a necklace and my all time fave accessory item sunglasses (available at Expressory) to pull the entire look together. But wait, did you peep the rose pin on the skirt? I have often added these stylish jewelry pieces to my outfits. They add a little flare and excitement to a look. I used the pin to create a loose ruching effect on the side of the skirt.

Per usu, I hope this look inspires you to look inside your own closet for ways in which you can re-purpose some of your old pieces.
