Why Throwing In The Towel Won't Do Any Good

I recently celebrated a birthday and this time around got me kinda messed up.  I can remember being 18/19 thinking, I'll never make it to 25.  But on May 5th, I turned 39.  Wow! 39.  And they say time fly's when you're having fun, but time fly's whether you're having fun or not.  Today's post was suppose to go out last week, but because life happen's, you're getting it today.

Soo... In the months leading up to my birthday, I started feeling a little dispirited because I've allowed so much time to pass by because of fear, uncertainty and plain ol lack of confidence.  Playing the comparison game is a beast.  And starting from scratch isn't any better either, at least for me. Trying to grow a business in an already over saturated field with 20 and early 30 year old's is scary and if I'm honest, makes me kinda nervous.  Sometimes I wonder if I should just throw in the towel.  But I can't!  If for no other reason, I owe it to myself.  I owe it to my husband and children.  I owe it to the people who are looking to me as a sign that dreams do come true.  So instead of throwing in the towel, I've decided to keep it and use it to wipe away the sweat from the grind.

A few months ago I was scrolling through Facebook when I come across the story about Harland Sanders, better known as Colonel Sanders.  Did you know that he was 62 when he franchised Kentucky Fried Chicken?  He struggle most of his life trying to make ends meet before KFC made him a house whole name.  Man listening to this story really lit a fire in me.  It also made me curious about other people who didn't "blow up" until after 40.  Vera Wang didn't start her fashion career until she was 40.  Today she's one of the world's premier women's designers.  Betty White is one of the most award-winning comedic actresses in history, but she didn't become an icon until she joined the cast of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" in 1973 at age 51.  Comedian/Actress Leslie Jones was 47 when her appearance on SNL propelled her into the stardom. These are only a handful of individuals who became successful after 40.

Guys I'm motivated more than ever and throwing in the towel just means more laundry, lol.  Today is the perfect day to start living your dreams.  And one more thing...
