Wearing Shades Of The Same Color

pink blazer, pink pleated skirt, Atlanta personal stylist, Top Atlanta blogger, melodiestewart.com

(In my rap voice) Oh my gosh, back at it again (Woo)!  I’m wearing different hues of the same color again (Woo-Woo).  Guys, in my head I can hang with the best rappers, but in reality, I’m asking my daughter what the heck are they saying.  That part makes me feel old.

Anywho, today’s look has nothing to do with rapping and everything to do with styling different shades of the same color.  Even though I’ve done the monochrome thing a few times before (like this neon outfit) this time around I built my outfit around shades of pink. Now I know this look isn’t 100% monochrome, yet it still works.

For this look, I keep it rather simple.  I paired this bubblegum pink blazer with this pink lemonade pleated skirt and white tshirt (btw, if you haven’t already, you should check out my last few style posts where I’ve worn the illustrious white tee).

When it came to deciding which shoe to wear, I could have gone with a few different options, but chose this cute mini block heeled floral sandal instead.  Now I’m ready for a bunch invite.

Adding Color To Your Winter Wardrobe

wearing pink during winter, pink sweater, pink blazer

This season I decided to add more colorful pieces into my winter wardrobe. Although there’s nothing wrong with the darker hues, color is just more exciting. Adding bold splashes of color is super easy and anybody (female or male) can achieve a stylish look.

The color that I choose for this look, pink, is still one of my least favorite colors, but here I am rocking it with style and grace. What’s funny is my silly reason for not liking the pink. I didn’t like pink growing up because I was a tomboy and wanted nothing to do with anything to feminine and girly. Nowadays it’s not even that big a deal.

Incorporating bright and playful colors into your winter wardrobe can range from pieces like this bubble gum pink blazer and sweater combo in today’s look or something as simple as a handbag, a belt or shoes. You could even add a pop of vivid lip color if you’re feeling frisky. Just to prove to you that I’m here for adding color to my winter wardrobe, check out this neon sweater look or this highlighter yellow hoodie look or my fave, this hot pink blazer look.

What are your thoughts on wearing color in the wintertime?

A Stylish Outfit For Christmas Dinner

Holiday Dinner Outfit, Top Atlanta Blogger, Atlanta Stylist

The days are running away from me. I literally thought I had another week before Christmas. Are you ready for Christmas? I’m looking forward to spending time with my family.

Speaking of family, I can see it now, me walking into my parents’ house with this outfit on. Funny part about it is that nobody would even be surprised. More than likely one (or both) of my sister’s would shake her had at my extra-ness and my dad would probably have  tight smile on this face, then say that’s my Melli-Ann ( btw, I have no idea why he calls me that).

Dressing up for dinner at your parents may not warrant such a “doing the most” outfit like this, but putting a little effort into your look ain’t never hurt nobody.  However, if you’re visiting your new bae’s family for the first time this holiday season, a cute look is probably a good idea.  After all first impressions are lasting and often times before you even speak, you’ve already been judged.

Now going all out for dinner at home with your folks may get you crowned queen doing the most, yet opting for a super dope look would be awesome for Holiday parties outside the home. Whether you decide to go for a more festive look or a street chic vibe, the point is do you!

While most people would probably go with some type of Christmas garment, sequins or jeans, a comfy sweater and boots. I’m showing up in today’s look. It’s vibrant, bold and makes a statement. For some this look is too much, but for those who are up for making a statement I hope this outfit inspires you to step outside the style box and try new things.  Until next time!

When In Doubt Just Add A Blazer

Melodie Stewart, Atlanta Stylist, Top Atlanta Blogger

You guys are going to get sick and tired of me preaching about blazers and you know what? I don’t even care! They are the #1 staple item in my wardrobe. And if you haven’t noticed yet you soon will!

I got this dress a few months ago and wanted to get at least one more wear out of it before the last bit of spring weather leaves. So what did I do? I added a blazer. I mean you can wear them with almost anything, anytime. In my opinion, a blazer makes getting dressed so much easier.

Below are a few styles you can pair with a blazer:

  • Jeans + Tee

  • LBD (little black dress)

  • Summer dress + boots

  • Blouse + Trousers

  • Print skirt + Tee + Heels

  • Jeans or skirt or dress + sneakers

Now go forth and dress cute in a blazer!!!!

Ankle Boots In The Summer... Is It Still Cool?

boots in the summertime, atlanta personal stylist, top atlanta blogger

I can’t count how many times I’ve advised my personal stylist clients to take a risk, step outside of the box, shake things up a bit (a bunch).  With today’s look, I’m taking my own advice - hence the booties in this Hotlanta weather.  Honestly, I never understood the whole boots in summer trend (or the sandals in winter).  Yet here I am.

One of my go-to methods for putting a look together is to start with my shoes first, then build the look from there.  Scanning over my shoe collection I kept coming back to this floral print ankle bootie.  All the while I’m telling myself boots aren’t meant to be worn in hot weather.  But wouldn’t you know it, my mind had already started putting together an outfit.

Instantly I remembered this canary yellow ruffle skirt (also worn HERE) that I picked up a while ago at Ecologie Vintage Shop (if you’re into vintage, you need to check them out).  With all the colors in this bootie, it was exciting coming up with different ways to style the rest of the look.  After several options, I ended up going with this blue polka dot button up top and fuchsia pink blazer.  This could even be a workwear ensemble - #outfitinspo.

Here’s the kicker guy’s… I’m not even thrilled with this look.  I mean it works, but it’s the booties in the summer that keeps blowing my mind.  What are your thoughts on wearing boot/booties in the summer time? Let me know in the comments below.

Vintage Floral Dress + Pink Blazer

Atlanta Style Blogger, Melodie Stewart, The Style Klazit, Summer to Fall Fashion

*Disclaimer: the wind was being real disrespectful to my hair, so excuse the messy hair...

By now most of us, at least us southerners, are starting to feel this Fall weather sliding in on us.  And although I'm super excited about wearing some of the fall pieces I've acquired over the summer; I'm still trying to hold on to as much of the summer as possible.  One way I'm bringing summer fashion into fall is by adding a blazer to this tubed summer dress (later I'll show you another way I tricked out this vintage dress).  Layering is key! A blazer or a button-down or even a sweater can all be pieces to transition your summer dresses into the fall.  What other way would you have styled this dress?

*Smiling hard* Right now I feel like a kid at a candy shop.  I tell you the truth, I'm super excited!  So much is coming down the pipe for me and I am bubbling over with anticipation and expectancy.  Here's the kicker...

I don't even have a clue as to what it is;  I just have this feeling.  You know the one, where you have butterflies in your stomach and you can't sleep or eat (but not me, I'm still eating).  All you know is that something

BIG

is coming.  My goal is to be ready when it gets here.

Have you ever considered diy'ing garments in your closet that no longer service it's original purpose?  Take this skirt for instance, it was given to me for the purposes of destroying it.  The style of the skirt pre-diy wasn't flattering at all.  Sooo I grabbed a pair scissors and a spray bottle of bleach and got to work.  Once I got done Edward Scissorhanding this skirt, I washed it (by itself because of the bleach) and dried it to give it the fray and distressed look.  But there's really no right or wrong way to distress denim.  Just be creative.

Bubble Gum Pink Blazer + Gold Caged Heels

Atlanta style blogger, style blogger, Atlanta blogger, Atlanta stylist, Forever21, pink blazer, Midi skirt, Gold heels, caged heels, gold accessories, Style style, black bloggers, black girls rock, black girls killing it, Style influencer, Atlanta stylist, natural hair fashion, Atlanta street fashion

Hey y'all!  Hope your day is off to a productive start.  I plan on making the most of this Thursday.  And this weather in the "A" is wonderful.  Not to hot, just the right amount of breeze.  This is the type of weather for short shorts and skirts.  Can I tell you something?

This is

Your

time!  You are where you are for a reason!  Now make the  most of it!!

Would you believe me if I told you that I hated the color pink?  Growing up I was sooo anti pink.  It was such a girly color and I was far from girly.  Give me a pair of baggy jeans and an over-sized shirt and I was good.  Funny thing now, is that I'm starting to like this ol' girly color.

When it comes to my wardrobe and my personal style preference, I like to mix things up.  I'm not sure if I even have a signature look.  I pretty much wear what I want.  Have you been envisioning yourself in looks that you feel aren't you?  What's keeping you from at least trying it out?  Even as a stylist, I used to have moments of body envy.  I see what looks good on other people and I'm like, I would never look that good in something like that.  But I wouldn't know if I don't try it on?  As a young child my mother use to tell me, "Try it, You might like it."  If you're toying with the idea of a new look; Play On, by friend, play on!

Drop a line below or email me (

thestyleklazit@gmail.com

) your style questions or concerns.  I'd love to hear from you.
