Naturally Pretty - The Art of Curl || Event Recap

There's one thing about going natural that I hate....  And that's that I didn't do it sooner.  I decided in March 2012 that I wanted to go all natural.  October of that same year I did the BC.  I'll admit, I had no idea what to do with my new texture.  I hadn't done any research on how to manage my hair or even what products to use.  Moreover, hubs HATED it :-(

Last Thursday I attended the 6th Annual Naturally Pretty Event, hosted by Atlanta MUA Mimi J and Dr. Mae a.ka. Natural Chica where this years theme was The Art of Curl.  Attendees had the opportunity to silently participate in the auctioning of three pieces of art from - CP The Artist, Andrea Pippins and Dana Bly of Pardon My Fro.  One thing I've really enjoyed about the NP events is seeing and meeting so many naturally beautiful women embracing their true self.  Although there are several natural hair events in Atlanta each year; Naturally Pretty is by far only one I look forward to attending each.  Check out my recap video below.

Weekend of Fashion & Fun - Mixologist / pt. 2

Welcome back Stylenista's...

If you haven't read part 1 of my fashion fun filled weekend, check it out here.  I love fashion shows.  I've organized, directed, hosted and even styled for several shows.  So when my thrift sisters Wendy of (justjewels4u) and Cindy of (iampriiincesss) posted that they were putting on a fashion show, no doubt I was there.  The show was great.  I would have rocked just about each looked that graced the runway.  Clickhere for a few pics from the show.

Now about my look.  To some it may be a lot going own, but for me it was très chic.  I planned this look about a week before the fashion show in my head.  I was hoping to try it own just to make sure it would look okay, but never got around to it.  So, it was going to have to work - no matter what.

Hello Stylenista's,

Last month I had a birthday - Yyyyeeeaaaa!!!  Although I'm a little picky and somewhat finicky it doesn't take a lot to make me happy.  I love my husband for all the effort he puts into making my day special.  Aside from what he gets me, I don't really expect anyone else to get me anything.  However, to my surprise my two thrift buddy's (Tiffany of @mrscuteasabutton and NeShanta of @msstyleisshe) gifted me with some fabulous items.  One of my birthday gifts was this denim skirt and immediately I knew that I was going to destroy this skirt.  With little vision in mind and a giant pair of scissors I started cutting.  My husband was like you're just scissor happy; my reply was that it was going to be one of the best looking distressed skirts of all time.  After nearly loosing a finger and almost choking to death because of the bleach fumes - I  present to you............. Destroyed Denim!

Second Time Around

Happy Thursday Stylenista's!

Does it make me bougie if I never wear the same thing the same way twice?  I'd like to think of it as cReAtIvE!  If you follow me on IG, FB or read my blog, then you'll remember this skirt from a few months ago (see here).  I'm a very colorful person so this skirt was absolutely made just for me.  With all the colors, the style options are limitless.  You will definitely see more of this skirt this season.

Side note, I really love this splash of color in my hair!  ;-)

She's Got Leggs!

Hello Stylenista's!

OMGEE!  I have been running from event to event for about the last two weeks.  Not to mention, I still work a full time job (but not for long, I'm working on my exit plan.)

So one of the events I attended last week was Parker Simmons of Everyday Runway Henri Bendel Sip & Shop.  While being a little indecisive about what I wanted to wear, I wasn't worried.  I knew my look would come together.  The weekend prior I attending Thrifting Atlanta's monthly bus tour.  One of my fave stores to visit is Diva Diva Boutique, and it was there that I found the last piece to my look that hadn't even been created yet.  Since I do media for the bus tour, I typically don't get to do as much dedicated shopping as I'd like.  But every once in a while I get lucky.  I was a little skeptical about getting this skirt because it was a little shorter than I'm use to, but I didn't want to leave it behind.  Glad I did!  This look, if I say so myself, turned out oh so cute.

Sunday Brunch

Hi There Stylenista's!

My weekend ended on a great note; I attended Miko Branch of Miss Jessie's book signing meet & greet event.  Let me first say that Miko is gorgeous.  Listening to her story was very encouraging and inspiring.  Although she said a lot of good nuggets, what stood out most to me was that through hard work, perseverance and consistency, success is attainable.  I'm really glad that I went.

How ironic that I wore black and white just like the host's... Rita K. Davis of CocoaFab and the sweetest blogger I know, Kiwi "The Beauty".  Now before you go guessing how much I paid for my outfit, only one piece is thrifted.  Can you guess which one?  Let me help you out... my handbag!  Both the peplum top and fitted skirt are from F21 and the shoes are from gojane.

Check out my look and a few pic's from the event..
