What To Wear: New Years Eve Outfit Inspo

New Years Eve Outfit Inspo, Atlanta style blogger, Top black blogger

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Well maybe not quite, but we are so close and the closer NYE gets, the more excited I become.  Not because I'm looking forward to partying the night away (because if I'm being honest, I'll probably be sleep when 12:00 am hits).  Guys I feel way down deep that 2018 is going to be THE year of break through for me and mine.  I've been decreeing and declaring for years and I'm finally going to reap in this next year.

I’m already claiming 2018 as a great year; mentally, physically, financially, and spiritually. I know great things will align for me. - @idillionaire on twitter

Still trying to decide what to wear on New Year's?  Today's post may offer a little inspo.  While most are probably looking to wear a skimpy skirt or dress that shines bright like a diamond in hopes of slaying the night away.  Me, I'm going for a look that's more covered and warmer.

Enter this effortless chic street style look.  Starting with this awesome faux leather jacket from H&M scored two seasons ago.  Even though my exact jacket is out of season, this one from H&M (on sale now) or this one from Asos need to be in your shopping cart pronto.

Breaking down the rest of my look, I paired this black and white polka dotted sweatshirt (similar here) with distressed white jeans (similar here) and layered with this sheer skirt for the perfect NYE look for parting in or out.  And because I've pledged to brighten my winter wardrobe (like with this Yellow Sweater look here) I finished off the look with these hot pink sock booties from JustFab.

Are you inspired by this look?  If not, what are you planning on wearing this NYE?  Drop a line in the comments.

Friday Vibe in Floral + Plaid

Atlanta Top Blogger, Atlanta Black Blogger, Top Style Blogger

Ladies and Gentleman, the moment we’ve all been waiting for… It’s Friday!  And once again I have a full weekend or a full Saturday at least.  Saturday morning starts with a much needed barber appointment, later a birthday party and then a blog shoot.  All of this with my 8 year old in tow.  Speaking of my 8 year old, when I picked him up from school yesterday he informed me that has a girlfriend now.  He actually wrote a little love note asking if she’d be his girlfriend.  She said yes!

Most people are familiar with casual Friday if you work in Corp America.  This is, in most cases, the one day of the week where you get to ditch the office appropriate business attire and wear something less dress codie (I just made that up).  And depending on your offices’ dress code policy, today’s look is for sure casual Friday worthy.

For starters, my shirt is actually from the men’s section at the thrift store.  I almost didn’t get it, but after mentally putting together a few outfits; adding this top to my wardrobe was a must.  Now that we’re heading into Fall/Winter, over-sized tops or boyfriend shirt are perfect for layering.

This denim skirt is awesomely amazing.  Its length is what I’m most excited about.  Nowadays, skirts are either super short or really long.  But this skirt would def be a proper length for the office.  And depending on how strict your office dress code policy is, wearing a distress skirt may be out of compliance; however you can still pull off this look with non-distressed denim skirt.

Being the extra style crazed individual that I am, a solid pair of booties just wouldn’t do.  Plus I couldn’t wait to pull out these Floral Brocade Mid-Calf Booties from Charlotte Russe (sadly they’re no longer available).  One rule to mixing prints is to pick two different prints that share the same colors.

Finishing off the look, I thought this red mini backpack from Forever 21 (the one I have is not available online) was the perfect pop of color and these mirrored sunglasses from Boga Boga to make me look uber cool (wink).  In the real world, I’d have to wear a similar version of this look to work.  I think it may be frowned upon if I walk into the office with my two lady friends exposed and a distress skirt.

Is this look something you’d wear?

Flashback Friday: Letter To My 10 Year Old Self

Atlanta style blogger, Top Atlanta bloggers, Top Black bloggers

Welcome to Friday my stylish friends.  Friday signifies the beginning of the weekend.  A time to unwind if only for a couple of days, unless you have a busy weekend planned like I do.

Atlanta style blogger, Top Atlanta bloggers, Top Black bloggers

We all have those pivotal moments in our lives when we think back and wonder if we could change one thing.  What difference could it or would it make in shaping our future.  Shaping how we view ourselves or how we react to how people view us.

A moment for me was back in elementary school.  I was about 10 or 11 and it was career day or something similar to it.  Several company's or organizations were setup in the gym with info about what they offered.  I remember walking up to the booth for anyone interested in Theater.  I was really excited because I actually wanted to be an actress and model.  Here comes the moment that changed my life...

I approach the women at the table....

Lady: Hello there!
Me: Hi!
Lady:  What do you want to do when you grow up?
Me:  I want to be an actress and model!
Lady:  Oh hunny, why don't you think about doing something else....
Me:  ??????
Lady:  Goes on to explain why I should do something else.
Me:  Walks away with head hung low.

Isn't it amazing the things we remember that have a huge impact on our lives?  Although I don't remember verbatim our exchange, I remember I was told what I couldn't do.  We all know the past is just that, but if I could talk to my younger self, this is what I'd say...

"A girl!  Screw what that lady just said.  Who is she to tell you what you can and can't be.  Hold your head up!  If you want to be an actress, then be an actress.  If you want to model, then be a model.  Use those negative words as a stepping stool to get to the next level.  You are stronger than you realize.  Put yourself out there, even when you're scared put yourself out there.  Don't let what others think you should do or who you should be determine your happiness.  Always pray! Always! Always pray!  Decide what you want to do.  Write the vision and make it so clear your fears become irrelevant.  Make a plan and work on it everyday until you see results.  When you fall, get back up!  You totally got this girl."
Also a few years from now, you'll write down your version of the perfect husband.  You're actually going to get him!!!  It's okay to let your guard down, because he's going to treat you like a queen.  You'll have no choice but to fall in love with him.  And that's completely okay.  You guys are going to make a great team."
Your future self
Melodie

What's the one thing you'd say to your future self?

Do I Walk Away Or Go Harder?

Top Atlanta Blogger, Top Black Bloggers, Atlanta Style Blogger

For the last few months I've been feeling sorta defeated, no frustrated or maybe exhausted.  I guess to sum it all up, I've just been in my feelings.  This is not to say that all is falling apart, it's just that things aren't really happening how I'd envisioned.  Don't let these blog pics or my IG feed fool you ma'am / sir.  I'm a work in progress.

Top Atlanta Blogger, Top Black Bloggers, Atlanta Style Blogger

The month of October to some signifies the last quarter of the year.  This is the time to really give it all you got.  To end the year strong.  But for me, this month brings me to my 12th year (TWELVE YEARS!!!!) being at my job.  It's kinda unbelievable.  Honestly I didn't think I'd last more than 5 years.  The plan was to make my way back to nursing school, graduate and get a job as a travel nurse.  If the travel nurse thing didn't pan out, I'd work as a trauma nurse in Grady Hospital's trauma center.  Obviously neither plan worked out (insert sad face).

Here I am close (really close) to 40 and still trying to 'figure it out'.  At the 4 year mark on my job, I started to realize that school was getting further away.  Yet, I wasn't willing to settle for the hand that life was showing me.  So I reached out to my baby sister with a plan to start our own image consulting company.  She thought it was a great idea and jumped on board.  Three years later.... What company???

Now what was I suppose to do?!?!  Walk away and just be grateful that I have a descent job with okay benefits OR regroup and try something else.  Over the last few years, I've been regrouping.  I can't even tell you how many times I've regrouped.  It's frustrating!  It's overwhelming at times ( a lot of times) and other times I'm literally on the verge of quitting and running the opposite direction.

But the thing is.... I can't just walk away.  Even though I've tried talking myself out of chasing my dreams and creating a life where I live what I love.  I CAN'T!  I have to much at stake.  I've invested so much already.  Yes it's hard, but I'm driven to go harder.  Complaining is easy, procrastinating is the breeding ground for fear of failure or the unknown.  Feeling bad for myself is ridicules.  I will gain nothing from any of this.

While I'm not where I'd like to be.  I'm motivated in the notion that I will succeed.  One day I'll look around and see what has taken money, sweat and years.  And by the power of the tongue I declare to myself everyday that I'm going to 'blow up.'

At this point guys, it's go hard or go harder!

How To Wear Pink In The Fall

Melodie Stewart, The Style klazit, asos metallic jacquard skirt, metallic pink sneakers, atlanta style blogger

The weather outside is still kinda toasty and while I'm more than excited for Fall fashion, I'm still basking in these Spring-like temp's.  So by now I'm sure you're starting to hear all about transitioning your spring/summer wardrobe into fall.  I'm here for all of it.

Melodie Stewart, The Style klazit, asos metallic jacquard skirt, metallic pink sneakers, atlanta style blogger

Does this mean that you have to put away your lively bright spring colors?  Of course not!  It just means that you make the color cold (or cooler) weather friendly.  Take today's outfit post for example.  To play down the bright pink hue of these metallic shoes, I wore this dark metallic jacquard print ruffle skirt from Asos.

Melodie Stewart, The Style klazit, asos metallic jacquard skirt, metallic pink sneakers, atlanta style blogger
Melodie Stewart, The Style klazit, asos metallic jacquard skirt, metallic pink sneakers, atlanta style blogger

I tossed around the idea of ordering this skirt because 1. it has ruffles, which only girly girls wear ruffles, right?  2. I wanted to get it in a size 8 (which was sold out), but I had to get the six instead.  Let me just say that the next time I wear this skirt, I would have needed to fast at least 24 hours before.

Having all fall and winter to wear this skirt again, the first look I wanted to keep fairly simple.  Opting for a plain white button down shirt this gave the skirt all the attention it deserved.  And I rolled up the sleeves, because rolled up sleeves are what all the cool people are doing -- wink!

When considering wearing bright colors in the fall/winter months.  Think about the fabrics.  This skirt with some tights and a blazer or sweater would be great once the temperatures drop.  I could also go bolder and just mix the shoes or the skirt with a neutral or dark color for balance.  So there you have it!

The LWD (Little White Dress)

The Style Klazit, White Shirt Dress, Flatform, Aldo Handbag, Atlanta style blogger

Just when I thought I could finally break out my fall pieces, the weather here in Atlanta jumps back up to hot!  I mean really!!

I thought this week I'd finally get my chance to bust out a few fall pieces I thrifted last summer.  Aside from spring, fall is my next favorite season of the year.  I love the rich colors of fall and the weather is just right.  It's not to warm and not to cool. it's perfect weather.  Perfect for transitioning your spring/summer pieces in with your fall wardrobe by layering.

The Style Klazit, White Shirt Dress, Flatform, Aldo Handbag, Atlanta style blogger

Today's look is ideal for the weather situation.  It's simple, casual and comfy.  And as many times as I've worn this shirt dress, this is my first time wearing it as just a dress.  But when it gets cooler, I'm for sure going to fall and winterize this top once more.

What I love most about this look are my faux Stella Mccartney elyse shoes and Aldo handbag.  Ain't they cute, tho?  Since I can't afford the 'real' elyse's (at least not yet), I'll settle for these equally cute pair from Shein.  I think the shoes and handbag together compliment my dress.

The only thing missing is my necklace which I forgot to put on during the shoot.  That would have tied the look together.  Anywho, I hope you appreciate this look and it gives you a little outfit inspo.

*** Other ways I've wore this shirt dress >>> Look 1, Look 2Which is your fave?

Patchwork Blazer + Ripped Jeans

White distressed jeans, white after labor day, zara silver oxfords, atlanta style blogger

A few weeks ago, I blogged about some of my quirkiness - (HERE).  And I'd like to share another weird one.  Surprisingly, I don't like buying pieces that I've seen other bloggers wear.  I know! I know!  That's the whole point right?  I mean, it can be the most bombastic item of the year, yet I still won't buy it.

White distressed jeans, white after labor day, zara silver oxfords, atlanta style blogger

However, there are those rare times (when the moon completely blocks the sun, lol) when I see one of my fave style bloggers grace Instagram with a super dope piece and I have an internal fight with myself on whether or not I want to buy it.  After eyeing this blazer for a month or so, I give in and ordered it.  This embroidered patchwork blazer is awesome!  And what really sold me on it was the 'M' patch.  How was I not going to add this blazer to my blazer collection when it had my initial on it?  How?

White distressed jeans, white after labor day, zara silver oxfords, atlanta style blogger

I styled this patchwork blazer with all white for two reasons, 1. It's after Labor Day and I wear white after this holiday and 2. I wanted the blazer to be the focal point of the look so I gave it a blank canvas.  My shoes, bag and sunglasses all do an fab job of complimenting the over all look, and add a touch of streetstyle.  The last time I wore this blazer (HERE) I focused on the gold aspect of this blazer.

Mens Inspo + Blue Bucket Bag

Melodie Stewart, The Style Klazit, Atlanta style blogger, JustFab bucket bag, menswear, mens inspo

Well guys it's a brand new week and I'm glad about it.  A chance to start that thing you've been putting off.  And you know what, you got this!

Speaking of got this, I got this really cute bucket back, 'Ronald' from JustFab to review last week; and I must say I really like the bag.  It's perfect for after work errand duties.  There's always that one day of the work week where I just can't seem to pull it together.  That day is usually Monday or Wednesday.  On those blah days, my outfit option goes something like today's look.  The only bright side to this look is this vibrant indigo bucket bag that allows me to move about without the hassle of trying to hold a bag in one hand.  There's even ample space for my wallet, small lipstick pouch, phone and phone charger because the battery life of mobile phones these days are laughable.  The only downside is that it doesn't come in yellow.  To get your bucket bag go here.  You'll love it, I promise.

Blue Trench Coat + Metallic Mini Backpack

Melodie Stewart, The Style Klazit, Atlanta style blogger, Blue trench coat, white shirt dress, Shoedazzle, Metallic Backpack, Atlanta Stylist

Roses are red violets are blue, I'm not wearing red and neither should you!  Anybody else besides me NOT ready for Valentine's?  How could I, a married woman who's madly in love with my husband, not be ready for the day of looovveee?  I don't have an answer for you.  But what I can tell you is that I won't be wearing red. I really don't have to wear red to prove my love.  So my V-day outfit is this little number here.  It's sexy and chic with a smidge of edge.  And since the weather here in Atlanta is unpredictable I didn't want to be caught out in the elements trying to be cute thus this lively blue trench.  So guys the moral of the story is to have fun and dress really cute tomorrow.

If you're apart of my tribe, then you know I loovvee shoes and one of my fave sites to order shoes from is JustFab.  Not only am I a member of JF, I'm an ambassador.  So when they asked me to style a pair of shoes for the brand, I was like heck yeah!  I styled this faux leather oxford 'Billy Jean' in gold with these olive sweats for a cool, casual street style.  Let me tell you, I've been looking for a gold oxford for the longest and now my quest has ended.  Aside from the color, the overall quality of this shoe is really good.  The fit is true to size and comfortable for a day of shopping.  The best part about this shoe is that it comes in two other colors pewter and silver.  By now I know you're ready to grab a pair for yourself, so go ahead you deserve it.

Olive Trench + Acid Wash Denim Skirt

Melodie Stewart, The Style Klazit, Atlanta style blogger, Vintage skirt, olive trench coat

If I told you that I'm less than two years away from 40, would you believe me?  Well I am, so I think that qualifies me to be considered an 80's/90's baby.  One of the biggest trends during that time frame was acid or stone wash denim.  And since fashion repeats itself, I was euphoric when I found this skirt at Ecologie Vintage on a Thrifting Atlanta Bus Tour last year.  Aside from the wash, I love the length of this skirt and the button detail.  The first time I styled this skirt (check it out) I had bigger hair.  I originally wanted to style this skirt with an oversized camel colored turtleneck sweater, but haven't found one that I like sooo I paired this skirt with a floral print sweat shirt and JustFab olive trench.  I really like how this look came together.  What do you think, it this something you'd wear?

Vintage Mix Prints + Faux Fur Vest

Melodie Stewart, The Style Klazit, Atlanta Fashion Stylist, Atlanta Style Blogger

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!! I'm so ready for all the bombtastic opportunities this year will bring.  Last year was full of learning moments that will definitely propel me into to my goals this year and beyond.  I hope that this will be one of the best years of your life from this point forward.

I love blending old and new school fashion from time to time, so today's outfit post is doing just that.  Grandma's floral blouse and pleated floral skirt is not so appealing by itself, so I added the fuzzy fur vest and wine oxfords.  And since the skirt was a wee bit too big I cinched it with a skinny belt.  The key to this looking coming together was that I paired two types of the same print and shared the same color scheme.  What do you think about mixing prints?
