What's So Bad About Kitten Heels?

top atlanta blogger, atlanta personal stylist

When it comes to fashion and style, I like to think that my style stands out a little bit above the rest.  I mean what's not to like about my unique perspective on style (lol)?  It's an expression of me, which it should be.  That's why I tread lightly when it comes to trends.  And if more than 3 or 4 style influencers I follow on social is wearing something I've been eyeing, I won't even attempt it (unless I just can't resist).  It's the petty in me - wink, wink.

Also, if I'm being honest, I love walking into a room and seeing people look me up and down because my outfit is so unique.  The goal is always to stand out in the crowd, not blend in.  This is probably why thrifting will always be my first go-to when it comes to stand out wardrobe pieces.  Plus, I won't have to worry about ending up at some event with the same thing on that so-and-so has on.

A few weeks ago, I asked the poll question on my insta-stories if anybody else besides me were a fan of the kitten heel.  By a land slide, the majority of responses was Heck No!  I can't say that I was shocked.  I mean the kitten heel for years has been considered old fashion and the shoe your grandmother wore on special occasions.  But the kitten heel trend has come back strong (or has it?)

Like most people, I wasn't always a lover of the kitten heel, especially if you're talking about the style of the shoe back in the day.  However, the different style of these two inch heeled shoes now-a-days makes me giddy on the inside.  Take today's footwork for instance.  This little heeled shoe is making a huge statement with the ruffled detailing on the top.  I love that it adds just the right amount of pizazz to this look and they are comfortable.

One thing I will say is, you have to be careful how you style it.  If styled the wrong way your look can quickly go down hill.  My first time wearing these cuties, I decided this faux leather pleated skirt from Shein was the way to go.  I opted for a mix print black and white combo with the polka dot shirt and striped blazer.  The polka dot socks were added because I'm just extra.

I hope to be able to wear these kitten booties again before springtime weather kicks in full time.  What are your thoughts on the kitten heel trend?  Drop a line in the comments and tell me if you're a fan or not.  I've also provided shopping links to a few other kitten heel options to wear during the spring/summer months.

Red Thigh High Boots + I Wore My Shirt Backwards, AGAIN!

Lately I've found myself fawning over two colors that I hated only a couple years ago... Red and Pink.  I mean all of a sudden I want everything in pink and red.  Go figure!  Within the last two months I've added three pair of red shoes and a bubbalicious pink bootie to my shoe collection.

Today I'm show casing these bright red thigh high boots that are definitely made for walking.  It's funny because in my younger years I had toothpicks for legs and wearing a pair of calf length boots, let alone a pair of OTK boots or even thigh boots was only a dream.  But now I've gain a smidgen of weight so now I can stunt in a ol nasty thigh high boot, and stunt I will - wink, wink!  Btw, here's are two (this one or this one) equally stunning options for your consideration.

If you've been following me you may remember that one time I attempted the backwards shirt trend - outfit fail hereThe end result was kinda blah, right?  Rather than giving up I decided to give it another shot.  This time opting to go with a tighter fitting denim top, which I paired with this faux leather pleated skirt I got from Shein earlier this year.  Bad news,  my skirt is sold out.  Good news, you can totally rock with this really cute one or this asymmetric bangin' one.

The first time I wore this look, the weather was a little warmer so I wore a pair of  red tassel trim loafers from Boo Hoo.  More bad news, the red ones I wore are sold out but you can get a black pair or taupe pair.  Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, I thought how cute would this look be with red boots in place of the loafers.  I thought right!!!  These thigh highs with the cutout going up the back of the leg and the backwards shirt take this look up about 10 notches.  Over all I'm diggin' this look.

What do you think about this look?  Is this trend one you'd try?  Let's talk about in the comments below.
