Hello, my name is Melodie and I'm a shoe addict.

Being a

brand ambassador doesn't help any.  Anywho!  When they announced that they were having a meet-up in New York, I called my girl Kisha Rose and we immediately started planning for the trip.  Although the trip was only for 2 days, I packed as if I was staying for a week.  This was my second trip to NYC and I wish I could have stayed a little longer.  I'm definitely going to extend my stay the next time around.

5 Ways To Wear White After Labor Day

If you haven't already, check out my white after Labor day look here.  I thought that since I was brave enough to wear white; it would be helpful to offer you some style tips on wearing your whites as well...

- For starters if you're too scared to pull off white-white, try off-white, winter white, cream or ivory.

- If you do decide to wear white, be sure to chose a fall/winter fabric. i.e. leather, wool, fur, cashmere, suede

- You can pair your look with fall/winter accessories.  i.e. a wool fedora or a scarf, gold or silver statement pieces...

- White jeans can be worn year round.  They can be teamed up with a moto jacket, a blazer, a sweater or a turtle neck.  A nice boot or bootie, maybe even a pointed toe flat, would be an excellent finish to your look.

- A leather bottom (pant, skirt, shorts, etc...) with a white top - be it blazer, sweater, shirt would be really dope.

The goal is to keep the look clean and stylish.  Get creative and to have fun.  Make sure to stick with the best shade of white that compliment's your skin tone.  Always dress according to your body type not your size.  When you look good, you feel good!

The White After Labor Day Rule

Okay! I will admit it.  It took me a minute to wrap my mind around wearing white after labor day.  In my neck of the woods, white after labor day was blasphemy.  I often wondered why it was such a faux pas, but the only explanation I got was; you're just not suppose to.  After a little research I'm still not completely sure why that ever became a fashion don't.  Whatever the case, this fashion offense doesn't apply today.  Check out my white after labor day look...

Weekend of Fashion & Fun - The Jumper / pt. 3

Hey Stylenista's!

Finally part 3 of my fun filled fashion weekend....  Click here for part 1 and part 2.

The conclusion of my weekend ended at a Trunk Show hosted by fellow fashion blogger Nikka Shae of Oh! Nikka.  Style ambassador Perrie Tucker gave us a sneak peak into the newest Lifestyle Brand collection by British Designer India Hicks.  The collection has quick a few pieces that I would have loved to have brought home with me, however, father's day is fast approaching and I have big plans for my boo that requires $$$.

Anywho, on to the most important piece; my outfit!  Since I had been in heels all day the day before I opted for flats.  How cute are the pink and white oxfords?  Well since I had the shoe selection for the day, the next step was building the look.  After shopping my closet in my mind and one minor suggestion from my husband.... I give you: The Jumper!

Weekend of Fashion & Fun - Mixologist / pt. 2

Welcome back Stylenista's...

If you haven't read part 1 of my fashion fun filled weekend, check it out here.  I love fashion shows.  I've organized, directed, hosted and even styled for several shows.  So when my thrift sisters Wendy of (justjewels4u) and Cindy of (iampriiincesss) posted that they were putting on a fashion show, no doubt I was there.  The show was great.  I would have rocked just about each looked that graced the runway.  Clickhere for a few pics from the show.

Now about my look.  To some it may be a lot going own, but for me it was très chic.  I planned this look about a week before the fashion show in my head.  I was hoping to try it own just to make sure it would look okay, but never got around to it.  So, it was going to have to work - no matter what.

Hi Stylenista's

I'm back!  Although it's only been like a week or two, it seems like a month or two.  I hope you all had a great 4 day weekend; I did.  My goal was to do nothing and to go no where... Well that didn't happen.  You see, I'm a thrift fiend so I ended up at the thrift store.  It was $.50 day and I found a few pieces that I'm excited to wear.

Okay so this look is simple, yet cute.  I had a meeting to attend and I wanted to be comfortable.  So instead of heels I opted for these mint green oxfords.

FEATURE Friday

FEATURE Friday with

Since I've been blogging, I haven't come across a more inspiring blogger than this lady here.  As a new blogger, it's really nice to be able to reach out to a seasoned blogger and actually receive a response back.

See what Tami had to say to me....

* What does fashion and style mean to you?

Fashion is a popular trend, especially in styles of dress and ornament or manner of behavior according to the dictionary. I find a fashion a way to express yourself. Style is just how you put it all together.

* Within the last few years thrifting has become really popular.  As a fashion lover, do you thrift?
How do you feel about this thrifting crave?

Yes I thrift but not like I use to. Where I live, they have some awesome thrift stores to shop at but I just don't have the time like I use but still, I try to stop by at least once a month. I love that people are finding unique ways to save money but still look stylish.

* Pink being your favorite color, what percentage of your wardrobe consists of pink?

I actually do not have a lot of pink in my wardrobe believe it or not. I think I might own 5% of pink items. That's shocking huh? LOL.

* As a lifestyle blogger, what are you most passionate about?

I’m most passionate about enjoying my job as a professional lifestyle, beauty and fashion blogger and showing the world that we too have a voice. I love working with brands and enjoy being invited out to cover events on a daily basis in and out of town. I feel very blessed to be able to make a career out of something I truly love.

* How do you balance life as a wife, mother and blogger?

With lots of prayer I must say and with a very supportive husband and my two teens, its become much easier over the years.

* What has been the most unbelievable moment of your blogging career?

One thing that comes to mind right off the top of my head is when I had a free car given to me from Ford Motor Co to drive around for a year as a Ford Fiesta Agent and with free gas too daily, that was pretty awesome, I must say!

* What has been the best gift you've received as a result of your brand?

I guess my extensive wardrobe from fashion brands plus my shoe and makeup collection that I receive on a daily basis. I haven’t worn the same outfit twice in years. I haven’t had to buy clothing, makeup or shoes in a long time, that’s pretty amazing I guess! Ha!

* Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I hope to own my own branding agency for up and coming bloggers, work with a major fashion label, design a couture fashion line or perhaps judge something on a fun tv show, that would be cool.

* What advice do you have for rising bloggers?

Be consistent, do the right thing and enjoy life and treat people well, even if sometimes they don’t do the same.
