What To Do When Your Wardrobe Has You Feeling Uninspired

What To Do When Your Wardrobe Has You Feeling Uninspired

Now a days I almost hate looking for something to wear.  It's to the point where I'm almost wasting time trying to conjure up a cute look.  And it's all because my wardrobe no longer inspires me.  Do you know how hard it is to style an outfit when your wardrobe becomes a bore to you?  Being a personal stylist and style blogger, you'd think my creative juices runneth over.  Well sir/ma'am, sometime the juice cart is as dry as the desert.

Today's outfit post is a perfect example.  Now hold tight, before you come at me with the "what's wrong with this look" question.  I actually struggle with putting this look together.  My desired go-to looks consists of a mixture of colors and patterns, like this mixed print look or this outfit with my shirt on backwards or even this look with army fatigues and red booties.

The average person take no thought into getting up and getting dressed.  But me, it's a production.  Or at least it use to be.  Now I just don't know.  While my lack of enthusiasm for getting dressed seems to be taking over, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help me and you get our mojo back...

4 Tips For Getting Inspired

1. Search Pinterest - It is filled with tons of style inspiration.  If you have a sweater, a pair of jeans or a new pair of shoes you can't wait to wear but you're just not sure how to style it.  Pinterest is your friend.  Just type in what it is you're looking for and bam!

2. Find & Follow Style Blogs - I've gotten quite a bit of inspiration from some of my favorite style bloggers.  The good thing about style bloggers are, they always share a link to where they get their pieces from (unless it's thrifted, but even I share links to similar options) -- here are a few that I follow > Blake Von D, Dayna Bolden, Kisha Rose, Mireille of City Peach, Lisa of Lisa A La Mode and Monica of Awed by Monica just to name a few.

3. Instagram - Although insta won't let some of us be great, it's still good for something.  Besides the accounts that they allow on your feed, go through the list of people you're following (after all you're following them for a reason.)  You're bound to find some hidden gems there.  *s/n, if you like a few of the pics on their feed, it will let IG know you want to see more of their feed.

4. Try Shopping At A New Store or Website - I love thrifting, but every once in a while (actually more than that) I'll shop a new store or website.  I've been able to add some really cool pieces to my wardrobe this way.  That's how I ended up with this dope distress denim jacket from Shein.

Do you ever get stuck with an uninteresting wardrobe?  What do you do to get inspired?  Let chat in the comments.

Another Outfit Fail - Utility Jumpsuit

Outfit Fail, Atlanta style blogger

We all want to look good all the time but unfortunately, that's just not always the case.  Even the most stylish fashionista get it wrong from time to time.  That is the focus of today's outfit.

For starters, I'm not a jumpsuit type of girl.  While there are a gaggle of really cute jumpsuits to choose from, it's not a must-have for me.  So when JustFab sent me this olive utility jumpsuit to review I thought this should be really fun and easy to style.

I may have been a little dramatic with the title of this post, because the look is not all that bad.  It's just that I could have done more with this jumpsuit.  Honestly people there's nothing wrong with the jumpsuit except 1. It's too small and 2. I don't like jumpsuits.

Now if jumpsuits speak to you, you'll definitely appreciate this one from JustFab. I would suggest sizing up since the medium that I'm wearing is too small.  When I say I almost passed out from stomach spasms trying not to look like a busted biscuit can... man!

What I like best about this jumpsuit is the quality of the fabric and the color is right on trend for the winter season.  I layered with this thrifted over-sized cardigan and completed the look with these really dope boots from a while back.

Some may love this look and others may ask themselves, wth is she wearing.  Either way, I'll never be able to redeem myself with this jumpsuit.  Why? Because I gave it away!!!

This is not my first outfit fail.  See the other look (HERE).  Have you ever worn something that when you put the look together in your head it was cute, but in real life - not so much?

Weekend Style Challenge

Melodie Stewart, The Style Klazit, Atlanta style blogger, Distressed shorts, olive duster, We love Atlanta, Weekend style inspiration

Whew! It's finally Friday. But it's been Friday for me since Wednesday. This week has just been one of those weeks where I felt like I was in the twilight zone. So I'm delighted that it's actually Friday.  Now let the weekend merriment begin.

For the past few weeks I've been super lazy about getting dressed.  I've been putting little to no effort at all into my wardrobe.  It's not for lack of clothes options,  I just haven't felt like it.  The slay (in real life) hasn't been real.  Nevertheless, it's the weekend and what better way to get out of this funk than with a style challenge.  Because if you look good you feel good, right?

Weekends for me usually mean family time.  Which, besides cleaning, may include grocery store shopping, going to the movies or home shopping (since we just bought a home last October.)  Typically if I'm running around with hubs and his mini me, I want to be comfortable.  However lately, I've been sacrificing cute for comfort.  Well guys the buck stops here! Today I do swear to be in style, nothing but style, so help me. And I challenge you to do the same.

Because my usual get-up generally consist of jeans, a T-shirt and a cool pair of shades, I decided to step this look up a notch.  So in lieu of my old faithful jeans, I opted for a pair of shorts I distressed from my local thrift shop.  I replaced the tee shirt for this peacock sleeve inspired top and layered this too small dress, dubbed olive duster for an element of street chic.  When it came to what bag to carry, I was undecided.  Should I wear the red crossbody from ShoeDazzle or the camel satchel with tassels.  Clearly the crossbody won.  I think it was the pompom that did it.  I should have gone with a sandal, because the arch on this bootie from Charlotte Russe was nothing nice to my feet.  But beauty is pain, huh?!

This weekend I challenge you to boldly wear something you have never worn before.  Get out of your comfort zone and make yourself wear something that you wouldn't ordinarily wear on the weekend.  If you're up for the challenge let me know in the comments.  Have a happy, fun and stylish weekend!!!

Sequin Skirt + Black Booties

Melodie Stewart, The Style Klazit, Atlanta style blogger, Shein sequin skirt, shoedazzle booties, Forever21 moto jacket

I would say that I'm an avid thrifter, but I'm not.  Don't get me wrong, I love thrift shopping because you're almost guaranteed to find something uber dope at the thrift shop.  Not to mention most of my wardrobe is thrifted; yet I can't overlook the fact that I've come up on some really awesome pieces shopping retail.  Take this gold sequin skirt from Shein, although I have a couple of sequin skirts, I didn't have one like this.  What I like most about this golden garment are the size of the disks.  The skirt is bold all by itself, but so am I.  That's why I went a moto jacket and block heeled booties.  Who knows next time I'll dress the skirt up.  How would you style this skirt?

Olive Trench + Acid Wash Denim Skirt

Melodie Stewart, The Style Klazit, Atlanta style blogger, Vintage skirt, olive trench coat

If I told you that I'm less than two years away from 40, would you believe me?  Well I am, so I think that qualifies me to be considered an 80's/90's baby.  One of the biggest trends during that time frame was acid or stone wash denim.  And since fashion repeats itself, I was euphoric when I found this skirt at Ecologie Vintage on a Thrifting Atlanta Bus Tour last year.  Aside from the wash, I love the length of this skirt and the button detail.  The first time I styled this skirt (check it out) I had bigger hair.  I originally wanted to style this skirt with an oversized camel colored turtleneck sweater, but haven't found one that I like sooo I paired this skirt with a floral print sweat shirt and JustFab olive trench.  I really like how this look came together.  What do you think, it this something you'd wear?
