An Exciting Spin On A Black And White Outfit

melodiestewart.com, black and white street style, Top Atlanta blogger

There is nothing more stylish than a black and white outfit, I can’t say this enough. These two colors together pack a mighty punch and can be bold and simple at the same time. And is hands down the easiest color combo to wear - ever! Each year Pantone declares the color of the year and while I love wearing colors, black and white will always be my two colors of the year.

My obsession with this monochrome color combo will probably never end. Which is why I’m always looking for ways to keep my black and white looks from being bland and boring. Like I said, black and white paired together is super easy and the different ways to style these two colors are endless.

Although I’ve worn this pleated skirt before, this time around I dialed it up a notch by adding a little texture. This textured tri-colored pleated skirt is dope by itself, but since I can be extra from time-to-time I opted to go for a black and white polka dot shirt instead of plain black or white. I played with the idea of wearing a polka dot blazer, but went with a solid black blazer instead.

To complete the look, I wore a pair of foiled silver metallic loafers and black dotted tights. My accessories included a little box handbag along with a pair of red thin retro cat-eye sunglasses on trend right now (btw, when they first hit the scene I hated them and said I’d never buy a pair. Moral of the story, never say never!)

As always, I hope this look inspires you to step out of the box and try new ways to style your black and white clothes. Even though you might not have these exact items in your closet, you can still find interesting ways to create stylish black and white looks.

Camo Pants That Are Worth Repeating

Atlanta personal stylist, Top Atlanta blogger, Camo street style

Once upon a time there was a young lady (me) who would have never been caught wearing something twice, especially if the look was captured on the gram.  I mean, where day do dat at (in my slang voice, cause I'm cool like that)?  But then one day this young lady woke up and realized that that was the most craziest thing ever.  She understood that she was being uppity for no good reason and remembered she didn't have the closet of Rihanna.  After all what sense did it make to buy something I obviously liked only to wear it once?  Cray, right?

After I got over the "Repeat Outfit Offender" syndrome, I gained a better appreciation for my clothes and became more focused on making the most of my wardrobe.  While I very rarely repeat a look, I do wear items over and over.  I've said this before and I'll say it again for the people in the back.  When considering adding pieces to your wardrobe, before you buy it, envision at least 3-4 different ways to style that item with pieces you already have in your closet.  The goal is to maximize your wardrobes full potential, not to become a hoarder.  Maximizing your wardrobe means mixing and matching pieces that you already have to create different looks.

Take these camo pants for instance.  This look is my 8th (or 9th) time styling these fatigues and each time I've replaced one or two pieces from the previous look to create a whole other outfit. Here are two good examples of the rare occasions when I've worn AND been photographed in the same look; the difference between the two is for the first look, I wore floral print block heels and paired it with a mixed print clutch.  Yet for the second look, I opted for flatform shoes and accessorized with a leopard print belt.  You see that with only a few subtle changes, you can create different looks with pieces you already have.  So you know I have to ask, which look is your fave?

The Easiest Way To Make A Black & White Outfit POP!

The Easiest Way To Style A Black & White Outfit

Ever since 2018 hit, I feel like I've been on a giant roller coaster.  Within these last 2ish months, things have been up and down.  But that's life, right?  Anyways, I'm going to keep on keeping on and so should you.

One of my FAVORITE color combo's of all time is black and white.  What is not to like about these two colors together.  I mean it goes hand in hand like peanut butter & jelly,  mac & cheese or milk & cookies.  Basically you can't go wrong when styling an outfit that's purely black and white.  There's nothing chicer—or easier.

I am totally and utterly in love with this Asos metallic pleated midi skirt that features 3 different colors and textures.  I mean come on, what's not to like!!!  So for this look, I decided to go all black up top.  Wanting the skirt to be the focal point of the look.  My blazer (which you should have in your closet already, it's a closet staple) is thrifted, however, this black blazer from Forever 21 or this black one from Asos gets a thumbs up from me.

Black and white combined is classic and will never go out of style, NEVER!  It can get you (style wise) through any event on your calendar.  This color duo can pretty much match up with anything you put with it.  Most people would pair this look with a black shoe, however, I opted for these fuchsia pink sock booties from JustFab.  By adding a pop of color, it instantly added a little more life to this outfit.  I choose my shoes as the burst of color, but a cute colorful handbag, a dope statement necklace or a piece of your outfit can be your pop.  Another example of how I added a bright color to a look; remember these red boots?

Because the skirt is doing the most, I went with a plain black blouse and accessorized by adding this metallic silver mini backpack.  Speaking of this pleated skirt, you'd better hurry, most of the sizes are gone and it's on sale for less than $50.

Are you a fan of the black and white trend?  If so, how do you typically style it?  Tell me in the comments

Black Blazer + Pink Sneakers

style blogger, street style, athleisure, sports inspired, Atlanta blogger, pink sneakers, black blazer, natural hair, black blogger, black girl magic

Life is ironic!  Would you believe me if I told you I was somewhat of a tomboy growing up?  I wore my clothes over-sized and I absolutely despised wearing skirts.  But then...

Then I decided one day while sitting in my college class that I wanted a complete change.  And just like that I went from over-size to the right size.  Seriously, within a month I was wearing fitted jeans and heels.  The irony is that these tennis shoes (as we call them in the south) are my only pair of athletic shoes.  And the only reason why I bought them was for a shopping trip to New York City two years ago.

Have you ever thought about "dressing up" sportswear?  It's super easy to do.  Take my look for instance; adding a black blazer and rolling up the sleeves didn't take much effort at all.  But there are also quite a few other ways in which you can pull off the athleisure style.  Instead of sneakers, you can take a sporty looking dress or over-sized t-shirt and pair it with some long boots or booties. A sweatshirt and some pumps would be really cute.  You could even put on some yoga pants, sneakers, crop top and a moto jacket.  These are just a few ways to pull of this style.

You don't always have to be in heels and dressed to the gawds.  Being stylish comes in many forms.  I've said this many times, step outside the box and wear something you wouldn't ordinarily wear.  What new style do you think you'll try this week?  Drop a line below and let's talk about it.
