Destroyed Denim

Melodie Stewart, The Style Klazit, Distressed Skirt, Atlanta style blogger, Atlanta street style

Hello Stylenista's,

Last month I had a birthday - Yyyyeeeaaaa!!!  Although I'm a little picky and somewhat finicky it doesn't take a lot to make me happy.  I love my husband for all the effort he puts into making my day special.  Aside from what he gets me, I don't really expect anyone else to get me anything.  However, to my surprise my two thrift buddy's (Tiffany of @mrscuteasabutton and NeShanta of @msstyleisshe) gifted me with some fabulous items.  One of my birthday gifts was this denim skirt and immediately I knew that I was going to destroy this skirt.  With little vision in mind and a giant pair of scissors I started cutting.  My husband was like you're just scissor happy; my reply was that it was going to be one of the best looking distressed skirts of all time.  After nearly loosing a finger and almost choking to death because of the bleach fumes - I  present to you............. Destroyed Denim!

Playful in Pink

Hi there Stylenista's

I hope you're having a great week.  Yesterday was my birthday and the only thing I really wanted was to just chill and go see Avengers: age of Ultron.   By the way, it was Ggggrrrreeeeaaaatttttt!!!!

I got this skirt earlier this year while on the Thrifting Atlanta bus tour and I couldn't wait til the weather warmed up to wear it.  The colors in this skirt are bountiful, while the number of styling options are plenty.  I love thrifting multi-functional pieces.  To be honest with you, it really doesn't take a lot for me to pull together a look.  If something catches my attention, I already know that I can work with it.  Just to give you a little history behind this shirt... On a bus tour no doubt, an attendee found the shirt, tried it on and it didn't fit, it went through 3 other ladies before choosing me to don it.  I Love THRIFTING!!!

Hi Stylenista's,

It's HUMP Day! Happy Wednesday!!

I would like to start by saying 'Thank You' to the thriftgods for favoring me with these army fatigue pants (which have been on my thrift wishlist for some time now.)  Whenever I'm thrifting, I very seldom visit the men's section.  However, the thriftgods guided me (subconsciously) to the men's pants section and there it hung, waiting for me.  I almost knocked over another shopper trying to get to them.  Immediately I started envisioning the different ways I would style them.  If I didn't purchase anything else, these were coming home with me.  If I do say so myself, I retro chic slayed (I just made that up) in this look; from head to toe.  Everything is thrifted except for the shoes and accessories.

Springtime Ready

Hi Stylenista's

The weather in the "A" is starting to warm up and I can't wait to break out a few pieces that I thrifted during the cold months.  I've even started working on my shoes collection for spring '15.

Notice anything different?  You guess it!  My hair is slightly different.  Since I've been natural, I've only had my hair straightened twice.  I love my hair in it's natural state, I just wish I would have big chopped sooner.  My hair goal is to have a fro as big as the moon (kidding) but I would like for it to grow more.

When I thriftshop, I never look for anything in particular.  My goal is to find something super cute, different and multi-functional.  I was having a rough day at work so I decided that I needed a little resale therapy.  So as I meandered through the aisles, I came up on this emerald green full skirt - buying it was a no brainer.  Although I'm frugal when it comes to shopping, I had to go retail to get this black jacket.  Isn't it everything?  I really really liked how this look came together.  Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
