Wish List: 5 Must Haves From Shoedazzle This Summer

shoedazzle, stiletto society, the style klazit, Melodie Stewart, brand ambassador

Happy payday lady's (and gents)!  When I tell you that I'm sooo ready for this long weekend, I tried to make Wednesday be Friday.  Now that it is Friday what better way to reward yourself than by a little retail therapy.  After all, retail therapy is the best type of therapy.  Especially when it involves
shoes!  Anybody that knows me, know I LOVE SHOES!!! And being a brand ambassador for Shoedazzle doesn't help this slight addiction.  I buy a least one pair of shoes every week.  Like Cinderella, a new pair of shoes can change your life.  I'm a huge fan of Shoedazzle, 1 because their selection of  shoes are trendy and stylish and 2 very affordable.  So why not share with you my 5 must have pieces for the summer...

1. I love a good ol' oxford.  It's a great way to dress up your summer work outfits when you're not in the mood for heels - Lilia

2. Everything seemly comes back around.  Style these 70's inspired platforms with pair of wide legged pants and a off the shoulder top and vuala - Wylie

3. A distressed denim skirt rather than distressed jeans can definitely be an option for those days when you're just not filling a pair of pants - Distressed Denim Skirt

4. Long gone are the days when lady's carry purses or pocketbooks.  Now-a-days we carry handbags.  Francios is chic and comes in a number of colors.

5. For years I've stayed away from a lot of dresses, but this number here is a game changer.  This off the shoulder knit dress is stunning.  If only I could decide on a color.

Fur Vest + Shirt Dress

Atlanta blogger, style blogger, Atlanta style blogger, fur vest, shirt dress

How's your first few days of the year going?  I'm on the highest cloud.... Here's why
Tomorrow my husband and I will be on a flight to Punta Cana, DR for the next few days.  And I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!  The other exciting part to this trip is that I'm 95% packed.  I always wait until the night before and then I'm sleepy the first day of my trip; but not this time.  A sista is ready.

So if you've been following me on Instagram or Facebook, then you'll know that this look is sorta out of my realm.  I've had this faux fur vest for almost a year.  To be honest I've never really been into any type of fur.  I was stepping outside of my norm when I bought this piece.  Here lately I've been kinda revamping my look.  Although I'm not really sure which direction I want to go in, I think this is a start.  What do you think?

Bodacious In Bordeaux

Happy New Year!  This is the first post of the year!  Noticed anything different?

I've updated the blog.  What do you think?  I've only been blogging for less than 2 years but I'm proud of the progress that I've made and there's more changes to come.  If you haven't subscribed, you can here.

One thing I'm most proud of is that I've really started to like myself.  Although I'm not perfect, I can look at myself in the mirror and built myself up instead of picking out my flaws.  I didn't make any new year resolutions because I had already started making resolutions in 2015.  My goal for 2016 is to really put my best foot forward and stop being afraid of shoulda, woulda, coulda's.  I plan to be very intentional in EVERYTHING I do.  Don't believe me just watch!

So a couple of weeks ago I share a post of my ShoeDazzle holiday wishlist (here).  One of the items on the list was this "cozy turtleneck tunic sweater .  I liked both the color and the style of this sweater.  Would you try a monochromatic look?

Crew Sweater + Olive Skirt

Atlanta style blogger, style blogger, Atlanta blogger, Olive Skirt, Oversized Clutch

Well guys, we've made it to the last day of the year and so much has happened...
Like you a lot has happened in my sphere this year.  From wedding anniversary to birthday milestones and even death; but I'm very grateful.  I've already started working on my 2016.  I didn't, couldn't wait for the new year to hit.  If you stick around, you'll see a few changes coming.  I have quite a few goals to accomplish before I'm 40.

Anywho, I thrifted this oversized clutch a few months back, I think it's bigger than I need it to be.  It will probably go in my boutique.  BTW if you're in Atlanta or visiting, check out my boutique located at 178 E Crogan St, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 inside the SoJe Emporium. Right across from the Lawrenceville Parking Deck.

Hey guys,

2016 is just a blink away!  Are you planning on making any changes in your wardrobe?  I am...

Atlanta style blogger, Style blogger, wardrobe stylist, Atlanta blogger

Right around the end of summer, I noticed a slight change in my style.  Being heavily influenced by vintage fashion, I'm liking the direction my style is moving in.  I'm interested in what 2016 styles will bring.  I bought these sequin pants for an all black birthday party and thought how dope it would be to dress them down. I really wanted to diy the sweatshirt, but ran out of time to do so - maybe next time.

7 Ways To Slay Your New Year's Eve

Yahoo!!! Christmas is finally here and I'm soo excited.  Why you ask?  Because I got to chill all day in my t-shirt and sweats.  My husband and I were invited over to a friends house for games and such, but I couldn't bring myself to part from my T and sweats....

Now that we've made it through the 12 days of Christmas, we have one more holiday countdown - New Year's.  We are 7 days away from 2016.  I've never really been to concerned about what to wear on NYE, but this year for some reason I wanted to do something a little different.  So I headed over to search the archives of some of my favorite style bloggers for some inspiration.  Hopefully these looks will inspire you as well.  Take a look...

Just in case you're not in the mood to wear a LBD, a jumpsuit is always a good choice.  Chloe (left, The Chloe Brand) added a splash of color to her look with this red fringe necklace.  While Cari Rene (right, Layllah) looks absolutely stunning in this classy, chic one-piece.  Both looks would def work for an after 5 New Years Eve celebration.

Chastity (Garner Style) one of my favorite style bloggers looks amazing in this body con dress.  There isn't anything that I've seen her in that I didn't like.  Now you may be thinking that the dress isn't cold weather friendly, but step back a bit and image this dress styled with a sequin blazer and strapy heeled sandal or as pictured because let's face it...  Chastity is wearing this dress!

I'm not a huge fan of lace, but this lace shirt dress worn by Thida ((That Girl Gick)) has me rethinking my stance on wearing lace. This look says I'm just getting off work on NYE and I don't have time to go home and change.  The white coat, red clutch and statement necklace took this look from blaaa to bomb.  Party on!!!!

Being a thrifter myself I can most assuredly appreciate a thrifter with style.  Patrice (Looking Fly On A Dime) not only is able to create a stylish look, she was able to do so all while on a budget.  This head-to-toe thrifted ensemble is #dope.  A moto jacket, a sequin embellished top over a skater skirt with tight and pumps; you can't go wrong.

2015 was rough and you've made up your mind that 2016 you're going to grab by the horns and make it your &*)^%....  You want to start the New Year off right and what better way then to step out in a "hello world" statement making look.  I lloovvveee this look on Juliette (Romeo's Fashion Fix).  It makes me want to throw caution to the wind and do it.....!

So what you're not an out of the box person.  That doesn't mean you still can look fabulous.  The timeless little black dress is a must have in your closet.  How breathtaking is this LBD styled by Busola (The Fashion Stir Fry)?  Sometimes it's the little details that make a big deal.  *S/N: Busola has the cutest dimple.

These looks are just a little inspiration to help you in your quest to look incredible at your New Year's Eve celebration.

Black Moto + Tartan Print Skirt

Moto jacket, plaid skirt, Atlanta blogger, style blogger

Hey ya'll, hey!  Guess what I'm sitting here doing...
Watching football with my husband.  Never would have thought in a million years that I'd become a football fan.  Welp, Christmas is this Friday and in the spirit of the holiday I wanted to wear something "Christmassy." I think this tartan print skirt (worn here) is a perfect option for the season.  How would you have styled this skirt?

My Holiday Wishlist

We are 7 days away from Christmas and I couldn't be more excited!  Here's why...
I'm off my 9 to 5 the entire week after Christmas.  And I plan to use that time for some serious brand/blog "stuff".  So be on the lookout for a lot of changes come 2016.  Now let's switch back to the topic at hand; my wish list.  In my Mariah Carey voice I'm singing "Baby all I want for Christmas is... handbags, shoes and clothes.  One of my favorite go-to site's ShoeDazzle has all the goods.
ShoeDazzle Black White Handbag
So if you don't already know, my favorite color combo is black and white.  What took this handbag over the top for me are the tassels.  Such a nice piece to add to almost any look.

ShoeDazzle-Blue-Handbag
What's not to love about this handbag?  The color is popping and the style is amazing! Good for work and play.  This bag is a must have
fringe bootie, bootie, boots, shoedazzle, streetstyle
I'll admit, it took me a minute to get into fringe, now that I have; adding this to my wishlist was a no brainer.  Although this bootie comes in black, I'm swooning over the tan.

Believe it or not, I don't have a grey pump in my shoe collection.  So since I've been nice (maybe a little naughty) all year, I wanted my wishlist watchers to know about this versatile pump.

Bordeaux, Burgundy, Oxblood Sweater

Although I already have this sweater in burgundy, I added it to my wishlist because I absolutely Love this sweater.  I just wish I had gotten the light grey color as well.

Boyfriend Cardigan

Here it is again, the black/white combo.  Can't you just imagine all the different ways to style this boyfriend cardigan?  Hint: layer it up...

Olive Long Trench
Last but def not least, this long trench in olive is #dope.  When I saw it, it spoke to me and said you need me.  I said I sure do!

Please bow your heads in a moment of silence for my briefcase...............

Okay, I thrifted this mini briefcase a while ago.  Since I'm a huge fan of mens inspired looks I was grateful to the thrift gawds for this awesome find.  The reason for the moment of silence is because I ran over it after this photo shoot, tear!  Maybe I luck up on another one.

Are you ready for the holiday's?  I am!  I'm mostly looking forward to not having to wake up earlier for work.  This will give me a good chance to work on more valuable content for you guys.  2016 is going to be a lot better than this year.  The best is yet to come.

Burgundy Moto + Socks & Sandals

Happy December 1st!  Almost the end of the year and what a year it's been.  One highlight is that I moved my online boutique to a physical location - hoot hoot!!!

I always wanted to work for myself and I believe that this is the first step towards being my own boss full-time.  So there's a little story behind this FABULOUS burgundy faux fur moto jacket.  Once upon a time...  lol kidding!  I first saw this jacket at Forever21 while in New York at the ShoeDazzle/JustFab meet up and of course they didn't have my size.  This made my second disappoint of the trip; my first one was when I found out I wouldn't make it to any thrift stores.  I forgot all about the jacket until my girl KishaRose told me she ordered it and said it was a must have.  I went online to order it and wouldn't you know it, it wasn't in my size.  Long story short, I was able to locate it at a local store (even after someone at the store told me they didn't have it).  I Love this jacket...

Event Recap: Curl Boss - Naturally Pretty

My natural hair journey has been interesting to say the least.  March 2012 was the last time I permed my hair and October 2012 I did the BC!  I was so excited and a little lost because I had no idea what I was going to do with a twa.  Not to mention my husband hated my natural hair; he called it "nappy."  It bothered me, but I knew that after I got the hang of it he would love.  AND I was right!!

During my natural hair journey, I've attended many hair events.  My favorite is the Naturally Pretty hair event hosted by beauty expert and MUA Mia “MiMi J” and Dr. Maeling "Mae" aka Natural Chica.  Volunteering in 2012 and 2013 and attending this year's event, WOW is all I can say.  The highlight for me was being in the presence of so many beautiful black women.  Secondly were the special guest panelist - Jasmine Lawrence of Eden BodyWorks, Janell Stephens of Camille Rose Naturals, Pamela Jenkins of Koils by Nature, Lois Hines of  Tropic Isle Living and Chanel Martin & Candace Mitchell of Myavana.

Oh! I almost forgot, I finally got a chance to me Melody of Modish Behavior.

Event Recap: The Style Kläzit Grand Opening!!!

Ohh-Mmm-Gee!!! This past week has been a blur...

Aside from working my 9-5 and helping my 6 yrs old son with a school project where "he" had to build a robot that helps conserve earths natural resources.  And my husband needing me to handle business paperwork... I was still getting ready for my boutique's grand opening.  *Long sign!  I am sooo tired.

Let's go down memory lane (dreamy music plays) In early 2013 I met a group of ladybosses who inspired me to stop running from my fears and start chasing my dreams.  That was the beginning.  At the suggestion of someone I admire I decided to my open my online boutique.  Now if you've read my bio, you should know it start off as Posh Lady Vintage.  I thought I was doing fine with the online store until I attended the boutique opening of a good friend in 2014.  On her wall the words, "Wish it... Dream it... Do it..." really resonated with me.  It was at this event where the desire to have my own storefront was birthed.  Fast forward to November 7, 2015, I wished it, dreamed it and then Did It!!!

more event pics here.

Last thing...  with all that I had going on, I didn't get a change to announce the winner of the handbag and the ShoeDazzle credit voucher worth $39.95.

And the WINNER'S are

Kimberly Morris - Handbag
Falisha Spence - Shoe credit voucher

Thank you to everyone who came, wanted to come and for the texts and FB and IG messages.

How to look Stylish, even when you're BROKE!!!

Raise your hand if you've ever been broke?  My hand is raised...  Honestly, I've been broke (temporary out of funds) quite a few times.  But never had I ever wanted to look like I was down and out and neither should you.  Let's talk about how not to look broke even if you are...
*Disclaimer:  I am going to very direct, but it's only for your good...!

#1 -  Beauty and Hygiene

Bathe EVERYDAY! Put on some deodorant and maybe some perfume (if you can).  Brush your teeth! Keep some type of breath freshener on you at all times.  Keep your nails done, even if you have to do them yourself.  Do your hair, even if it's a ponytail; make sure it's neat.  Although I don't get my face beat to the gawds, I've invested in a few matte lipsticks and gloss just to add a little character to my look.  An effortless and well groomed look is the goal.

#2 - Accessorize

When you're strapped for cash and your shopping budget is non-existent, accessories are the way to go.  Adding a cute statement necklace into your wardrobe can be worn to complete a day or night time look.  During the cooler months, a scarf can do the trick as well.  When you have the extra cash hit up stores like my fave a good 'ol thrift store, Charlotte Russe, Forever21, Ross, T.J. Maxx  or Marshalls to build your accessory collection.  Check out how I styled this statement necklace from I Heart Jewelz.

#3 - Be Basic

Sometimes it's okay to be basic....  What do I mean?  A plain look is better than being overly dressed-up.  Even though some people will say otherwise, every occasion doesn't always require you to be red carpet ready.  It's not what you wear, it's how you wear it.  For instance, this look below may not be a slay outfit of the day, but it's simple and causally cute.  Style doesn't have to be expensive.  This outfit, excluding the shoes was less than $10.00 - #thrifted!

#4 - Dress for your shape not your size

We all come in many shapes and sizes; which means not every brand, no matter how much we like it, is for us.  When you get an opportunity to go shopping, by clothes that are flattering to your shape.  Learn and understand how to accentuate your good areas and camouflage the other areas.  The better your clothes look on you, the better you look.

#5 -  Invest in foundation pieces

In my opinion there are about 10 basic pieces to keep in your wardrobe (read here). Having the essentials is a game changer.  Now that being said, you don't necessarily need all 10 pieces.  Your version of style my not be my version of style.  So you should determine your wardrobe essentials based upon your own personal style.  When you look good, you feel good!

Hello, my name is Melodie and I'm a shoe addict.
Being a ShoeDazzle and JustFab brand ambassador doesn't help any.  Anywho!  When they announced that they were having a meet-up in New York, I called my girl Kisha Rose and we immediately started planning for the trip.  Although the trip was only for 2 days, I packed as if I was staying for a week.  This was my second trip to NYC and I wish I could have stayed a little longer.  I'm definitely going to extend my stay the next time around.

When I first saw this skirt...

It was love at first sight and then I hoped that I could wear it.  Being short, I usually stay away from long skirts, unless they are really cute and then I make them work for my height.  I think I did well for myself.

It's Celebration time!!!!!

Ohh-Mmm-Geee!  I am sooooooo EXCITED!!!

About 7 years ago I started playing with the idea of me owning a boutique.  But that's all it was, just an idea.  Until May 2013 when I opened my online boutique.  When I first opened, sales were slow and I thought that maybe I had made a mistake, but my husband wouldn't allow me to quit.  After a while my sales picked up and business was good.  About 1.5 into it, I realized that an online store really wasn't what I wanted.  I desired an actual physical location.  In October 2014 I attended a friends boutique opening.  In helping her celebrate, I envisioned myself in the same situation.  To top it off, she had on her wall these words - Wish it... Dream it... DO IT!  So I did!  On November 7th, 2015 I will be celebrating the Grand Opening of my boutique.  If you live in or will be visiting the Metro Atlanta area on this day, please don't hesitate to drop by.

10 Ever Trending Pieces To Keep In Your Closet

the style klazit, Atlanta style blogger, style blogger, Atlanta blogger, trending pieces, closet essentials, street style, wardrobe essentials, must have wardrobe

Whenever you hear the phrase skeletons in the closet, one may think of something negative.  But on contraire my stylish friend I don't mind telling you about the skeletons in my closet.  These skeletons are my 10 must have pieces to keep in your closet that has been and probably will always be a Trend.
A white T is a must.  Whether worn alone or paired with other pieces, this little number will add character to almost any look.  This can be a year round wardrobe essential.  A statement necklace in the warmer months or a scarf in the cooler months to compliment your white T.
Having a good ol crispy white collard button down is a must.  In my opinion it provides a bit of an edge.  Styled with a high-waisted skirt or a pair of jeans it screams confidence.

A denim top for those days when you kinda what to dress up but not really.  I recommend both a light and dark colored top.

Lately, I've really increased the number of oversized (a.k.a boyfriend) shirts in my closet.  This style shirt can be worn a few different ways.

Denim jackets are universal.  You can almost never go wrong with a jean jacket.  It's a great transition piece for spring to fall when you're not ready to put away for favorite maxi dress.

Need a chic way to pull your look together?  A motorcycle jacket (or moto) is the way to go.  It changes a meek look into a bold and daring outfit.  This can be worn with a ball gown or a worn out pair of jeans.

If you're not really into to jeans, it's always a good idea to have a least three pair.  Skinny jeans, Boyfriend jeans and a Sexy straight leg jean.  These come in handy with you "can't find anything to wear."

The LBD.  You NEED a little black dress.  But you already knew that.

Now I have something of a little shoe addiction.  But if shoes are not your thing, you still need a go-to pair.  A black pump or flat is the way to go.  Or you could add a little personality by getting a print pump or flat.

Purple Mixed Prints

A few weeks ago I did a periscope on how to successfully mix prints.
This look was one of the looks that I used in my demonstration.  I was able to pull this look off by matching the purple in the skirt with the purple print in the top.  Both pieces have the same colors just different prints.  I added the gold belt to cinch my waist (the skirt was a tad bit to big) and to bring out the gold in my top and shoes.
