7 Ways To Slay Your New Year's Eve

Yahoo!!! Christmas is finally here and I'm soo excited.  Why you ask?  Because I got to chill all day in my t-shirt and sweats.  My husband and I were invited over to a friends house for games and such, but I couldn't bring myself to part from my T and sweats....

Now that we've made it through the 12 days of Christmas, we have one more holiday countdown - New Year's.  We are 7 days away from 2016.  I've never really been to concerned about what to wear on NYE, but this year for some reason I wanted to do something a little different.  So I headed over to search the archives of some of my favorite style bloggers for some inspiration.  Hopefully these looks will inspire you as well.  Take a look...

Just in case you're not in the mood to wear a LBD, a jumpsuit is always a good choice.  Chloe (left, The Chloe Brand) added a splash of color to her look with this red fringe necklace.  While Cari Rene (right, Layllah) looks absolutely stunning in this classy, chic one-piece.  Both looks would def work for an after 5 New Years Eve celebration.

Chastity (Garner Style) one of my favorite style bloggers looks amazing in this body con dress.  There isn't anything that I've seen her in that I didn't like.  Now you may be thinking that the dress isn't cold weather friendly, but step back a bit and image this dress styled with a sequin blazer and strapy heeled sandal or as pictured because let's face it...  Chastity is wearing this dress!

I'm not a huge fan of lace, but this lace shirt dress worn by Thida ((That Girl Gick)) has me rethinking my stance on wearing lace. This look says I'm just getting off work on NYE and I don't have time to go home and change.  The white coat, red clutch and statement necklace took this look from blaaa to bomb.  Party on!!!!

Being a thrifter myself I can most assuredly appreciate a thrifter with style.  Patrice (Looking Fly On A Dime) not only is able to create a stylish look, she was able to do so all while on a budget.  This head-to-toe thrifted ensemble is #dope.  A moto jacket, a sequin embellished top over a skater skirt with tight and pumps; you can't go wrong.

2015 was rough and you've made up your mind that 2016 you're going to grab by the horns and make it your &*)^%....  You want to start the New Year off right and what better way then to step out in a "hello world" statement making look.  I lloovvveee this look on Juliette (Romeo's Fashion Fix).  It makes me want to throw caution to the wind and do it.....!

So what you're not an out of the box person.  That doesn't mean you still can look fabulous.  The timeless little black dress is a must have in your closet.  How breathtaking is this LBD styled by Busola (The Fashion Stir Fry)?  Sometimes it's the little details that make a big deal.  *S/N: Busola has the cutest dimple.

These looks are just a little inspiration to help you in your quest to look incredible at your New Year's Eve celebration.

Black Moto + Tartan Print Skirt

Moto jacket, plaid skirt, Atlanta blogger, style blogger

Hey ya'll, hey!  Guess what I'm sitting here doing...
Watching football with my husband.  Never would have thought in a million years that I'd become a football fan.  Welp, Christmas is this Friday and in the spirit of the holiday I wanted to wear something "Christmassy." I think this tartan print skirt (worn here) is a perfect option for the season.  How would you have styled this skirt?

Hello, my name is Melodie and I'm a shoe addict.
Being a ShoeDazzle and JustFab brand ambassador doesn't help any.  Anywho!  When they announced that they were having a meet-up in New York, I called my girl Kisha Rose and we immediately started planning for the trip.  Although the trip was only for 2 days, I packed as if I was staying for a week.  This was my second trip to NYC and I wish I could have stayed a little longer.  I'm definitely going to extend my stay the next time around.

5 Ways To Wear White After Labor Day

the style klazit, Atlanta blogger, style blogger, Atlanta blogger, white after labor day, wear white after labor day, labor day fashion, street style

If you haven't already, check out my white after Labor day look here.  I thought that since I was brave enough to wear white; it would be helpful to offer you some style tips on wearing your whites as well...
- For starters if you're too scared to pull off white-white, try off-white, winter white, cream or ivory.

- If you do decide to wear white, be sure to chose a fall/winter fabric. i.e. leather, wool, fur, cashmere, suede

- You can pair your look with fall/winter accessories.  i.e. a wool fedora or a scarf, gold or silver statement pieces...

- White jeans can be worn year round.  They can be teamed up with a moto jacket, a blazer, a sweater or a turtle neck.  A nice boot or bootie, maybe even a pointed toe flat, would be an excellent finish to your look.

- A leather bottom (pant, skirt, shorts, etc...) with a white top - be it blazer, sweater, shirt would be really dope.

The goal is to keep the look clean and stylish.  Get creative and to have fun.  Make sure to stick with the best shade of white that compliment's your skin tone.  Always dress according to your body type not your size.  When you look good, you feel good!

The White After Labor Day Rule

Okay! I will admit it.  It took me a minute to wrap my mind around wearing white after labor day.  In my neck of the woods, white after labor day was blasphemy.  I often wondered why it was such a faux pas, but the only explanation I got was; you're just not suppose to.  After a little research I'm still not completely sure why that ever became a fashion don't.  Whatever the case, this fashion offense doesn't apply today.  Check out my white after labor day look...

Summer! Summer! Summertime...

Whew! It's Wednesday, Hump day and I'm so looking forward to the weekend.  Not that I have any scheduled events, I just don't want to have to get up and go to work.  My goal this weekend is to continue working on my brand.  Let me tell you, ever since I downloaded the Periscope app (btw, follow me @thestyleklazit), I've been getting my #bloggerlife from bloggers like Mattie James of Mattieologie and Doni Brown who are amazing women.  All the free advise and info that they given is absolutely a-maz-ing!!!

This look almost didn't make the blog because of the weird shadow around me, but I really loved this look sooooo I decided to post it anyway.  Can you guess what's not thrifted?

FEATURE Friday w/ Kiwi The Beauty

As the saying goes, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
Today's feature for this FEATURE Friday is KiSheyna of

I met Kiwi just a little over a year ago and from day one she's been real.  I found her to be down to earth and full of blogger knowledge.  Our conversation went a little like this....

*What were your life plans before you started blogging?

~ I was going to college to be a publicist.  To past the time away, because there wasn't as many of the current social media platforms of today, I starting blogging.

* How has blogging affected your life?

~ Blogging has effected a big part of my life, mainly my income.  Through blogging, I've experienced some great opportunities.  So much so that if I'd have gone the PR route I don't think I would have encountered them.  It has changed my life dramatically.  It's almost surreal at times just looking at where writing has taken me...  I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

* What are some of your greatest blogging accomplishments

~ Oh gosh!  Being on billboards for Miss Jessie's, magazine features and more recently, making the cover of It's My Hair! Magazine.

* What do you like least about blogging?

~ Editing!  Don't get me wrong, blogging is beautiful.  It's just that this piece can be the most time consuming piece.

* Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

~ I guess that depends on how social media goes... Definitely blogging to my highest potential.  Having an extremely high reach, over the 100k mark.  Making six figures all while continuing to create a brand from my blog.  I would really be doing myself a disservice if I wasn't operating with multiple streams of income.  This is my goals

* Being a social media-lite, what would you do if social media didn’t exist?

~ Social media effects not just bloggers, but everybody.  Without it a lot of people would be lost.  Social media is how we connect with people.  It has changed the game for quite a bit of people.

* Describe Kiwi in one word?

     ~ Creative

* As a blogger, what would you say is your area of expertise?

~ Being a creative being, I don't have any one specific area.  My niche is media, beauty and lifestyle blogger

* What advise do you have for rising bloggers?

~ Don't get caught up on what other bloggers are doing or social media numbers.  Don't be intimidated.  In the blogging community, there's enough room for us all.  And most importantly, be willing to learn.  Read books, take workshops, even attend conferences.  If you don't believe in your brand, no one else will.

Weekend of Fashion & Fun - Mixologist / pt. 2

Welcome back Stylenista's...

If you haven't read part 1 of my fashion fun filled weekend, check it out here.

I love fashion shows.  I've organized, directed, hosted and even styled for several shows.  So when my thrift sisters Wendy of (justjewels4u) and Cindy of (iampriiincesss) posted that they were putting on a fashion show, no doubt I was there.  The show was great.  I would have rocked just about each looked that graced the runway.  Click here for a few pics from the show.

Now about my look.  To some it may be a lot going own, but for me it was très chic.  I planned this look about a week before the fashion show in my head.  I was hoping to try it own just to make sure it would look okay, but never got around to it.  So, it was going to have to work - no matter what.

Destroyed Denim

Hello Stylenista's,

Last month I had a birthday - Yyyyeeeaaaa!!!  Although I'm a little picky and somewhat finicky it doesn't take a lot to make me happy.  I love my husband for all the effort he puts into making my day special.  Aside from what he gets me, I don't really expect anyone else to get me anything.  However, to my surprise my two thrift bff's (Tiffany @mrscuteasabutton and NeShanta @msstyleisshe) gifted me with some fabulous items.  One of my birthday gifts was this denim skirt and immediately I knew that I was going to destroy this skirt.  With little vision in mind and a giant pair of scissors I started cutting.  My husband was like you're just scissor happy; my reply was that it was going to be one of the best looking distressed skirts of all time.  After nearly loosing a finger and almost choking to death because of the bleach fumes - I  present to you............. Destroyed Denim!

Second Time Around

Happy Thursday Stylenista's!

Does it make me bougie if I never wear the same thing the same way twice?  I'd like to think of it as cReAtIvE!  If you follow me on IG, FB or read my blog, then you'll remember this skirt from a few months ago (see here).  I'm a very colorful person so this skirt was absolutely made just for me.  With all the colors, the style options are limitless.  You will definitely see more of this skirt this season.

Side note, I really love this splash of color in my hair!  ;-)
