Hey y'all, these last few weeks have been really trying for me.  Things at my temporary 9-5 is getting out of hand.  But don't get me wrong, I appreciate having a job; how else will I be able to support my
shopping addiction - Ha!  Speaking of shopping, I was suppose to go on the Thrifting Atlanta bus tour tomorrow. But the way my marriage is set up, a happy husband is more important then spending a day on a chartered bus being chauffeured to different shops in Atlanta.  All while enjoying exclusive discounts, light refreshments, giveaways and a bag lunch too.  I digress...

So a friend of mines, referred my styling services to someone he knew.  After not hearing from the potential client, I inquired about the person; Can you believe that the reason she decided not to hire me was (and I quote), "I dress to young for her" (head cocked and mouth turned up.)  I shalt not lie, I was bother at first, but them I got over it.  My style is just that, My Style.  I would only style you like me if that's what you want.  Today's style is urban streetwear.

Drop a line below or email me > thestyleklazit@gmail.com; let's talk about fashion and style.
*This post is a little photo heavy.  I was feeling myself.

Please bow your heads in a moment of silence for my briefcase...............

Okay, I thrifted this mini briefcase a while ago.  Since I'm a huge fan of mens inspired looks I was grateful to the thrift gawds for this awesome find.  The reason for the moment of silence is because I ran over it after this photo shoot, tear!  Maybe I luck up on another one.

Are you ready for the holiday's?  I am!  I'm mostly looking forward to not having to wake up earlier for work.  This will give me a good chance to work on more valuable content for you guys.  2016 is going to be a lot better than this year.  The best is yet to come.

Thrifting Tips For Newbies

Thrifting has been around for some time now.  I know when I was coming up it was sort of frowned upon; now it's the it thing to do; Almost everybody is thrifting now.  My cousin introduced me to thrifting when I was in my early teens.

I find that thrifting really allows me to display my creativity.  I'm not being force feed the style and trends of society either.

  • Pack your patience.
    • Take your time going through the racks.  Some gems are harder to find then others
  • Be open minded.
    • Not all thrift stores are smelly and dirty.
    • Have an idea of what you're looking for.
  • Have a budget.
    • Stick to your budget.  Because it's so cheap, you can easily loose track of your spending cap.
  • Be willing to travel.
    • Some areas have a better stores than others.  *Don't discount the "mom & pop" stores.
  • Wear your thrifting uniform.
    • You want to wear something that fits to your body, just in case they don't have dressing rooms or if the dressing rooms are full.
    • The uniform consists of: T-shirt or tank top, leggings, maxi dress or skirt.  Socks or footies if you want to try on shoes.
  • Put it in the cart.
    • As you see pieces that interest you, dump it in your cart.  You can sort through it and decide on the keepers once you get to the fitting room.
  • Examine the clothes closely.
    • Check your garments for stains, rips/tears, missing buttons, proper working zipper and really bad smells.
    • Check under the armpits, seams, seats of pants and hems.
  • Bring a small bottle of hand sanitizer - after all, all of these pieces are second hand.
  • Buy One, Give One
    • Don't be a hoarder.  Go through your closet and donate some items that you no longer wear.
  • Don't discount funiture.
    • It can be restored or repurposed.
    • You can always paint or spray to change the color.
    • You can change the original use of an item and make it work for something else.
  • Don't buy just to buy!

Second Time Around

Happy Thursday Stylenista's!

Does it make me bougie if I never wear the same thing the same way twice?  I'd like to think of it as cReAtIvE!  If you follow me on IG, FB or read my blog, then you'll remember this skirt from a few months ago (see here).  I'm a very colorful person so this skirt was absolutely made just for me.  With all the colors, the style options are limitless.  You will definitely see more of this skirt this season.

Side note, I really love this splash of color in my hair!  ;-)

Here's Pinking At You!

Hi Stylenista's

It's Monday again and yet again, I had a fab weekend.  This weekend I hosted the Thrifting Atlanta bus tour.  First off, I love thrifting!  Every time I step foot into a thrift shop, I get anxious; almost like a kid in a candy shop.  Just the anticipation of what awesomeness awaits me.  As a firm believer of speaking things into existence, I'm floored when something from my shopping wishlist comes into my life.  I can't wait to show you the yellow midi skirt that I got while on the tour.

A few Sunday's ago, I was running late for church and my first look didn't come together as I had planned.  So plan "B" were these floral print shorts (because I didn't have iron them) and the short sleeved collared shirt.  Since I was going to church I thought I better put on a pair of heels.  I think "Madison" from ShoeDazzle was the perfect touch.

Just Having Fun

Happy Monday Stylenista's!

I had another great weekend!!!  My birthday was last week and my husband, as always, went out of his way to make sure I had a great birthday.  Man I love my hunni bunni!!!

Now let's talk about my look.  I didn't really plan this look it just sorta came together.  One of my home girls posted a pic where she wore a pair of iridescent sunnies.  I knew then that I would be adding a pair to the collection.  I really had fun with this look.  My fave is the radio print t-shirt which I got from The Children's Place while I was suppose to be shopping for my son.  Being petite has it's advantages.  Just so you know.... I'm really feeling this radio print t-shirt and the neon yellow bag and this polka-dot blazer and these black/white stripped shorts and pretty much this entire look.

Playful in Pink

Hi there Stylenista's

I hope you're having a great week.  Yesterday was my birthday and the only thing I really wanted was to just chill and go see Avengers: age of Ultron.   By the way, it was Ggggrrrreeeeaaaatttttt!!!!

I got this skirt earlier this year while on the Thrifting Atlanta bus tour and I couldn't wait til the weather warmed up to wear it.  The colors in this skirt are bountiful, while the number of styling options are plenty.  I love thrifting multi-functional pieces.  To be honest with you, it really doesn't take a lot for me to pull together a look.  If something catches my attention, I already know that I can work with it.  Just to give you a little history behind this shirt... On a bus tour no doubt, an attendee found the shirt, tried it on and it didn't fit, it went through 3 other ladies before choosing me to don it.  I Love THRIFTING!!!

She's Got Leggs!

Hello Stylenista's!

OMGEE!  I have been running from event to event for about the last two weeks.  Not to mention, I still work a full time job (but not for long, I'm working on my exit plan.)

So one of the events I attended last week was Parker Simmons of Everyday Runway Henri Bendel Sip & Shop.  While being a little indecisive about what I wanted to wear, I wasn't worried.  I knew my look would come together.  The weekend prior I attending Thrifting Atlanta's monthly bus tour.  One of my fave stores to visit is Diva Diva Boutique, and it was there that I found the last piece to my look that hadn't even been created yet.  Since I do media for the bus tour, I typically don't get to do as much dedicated shopping as I'd like.  But every once in a while I get lucky.  I was a little skeptical about getting this skirt because it was a little shorter than I'm use to, but I didn't want to leave it behind.  Glad I did!  This look, if I say so myself, turned out oh so cute.

Multi-Colorful

Hi Stylenista's

The weekend is over. Whew!  And what a weekend it was.  I haven't been thrifting in weeks, maybe a few months; however, that all changed this weekend.  I co-hosted the April Thrifting Atlanta monthly bus tour.  While on the tour I picked up a few pieces that I had on my thrift wishlist.  OMG!!!! I can't wait to show you guys the one piece that almost stop the earth from revolving.....

Speaking of bus tour, I scored this skirt from Ecologie Consignment and Vintage during last months bus tour.  Being the colorful individual that I am, it was a no brainer that this piece was coming home with me.  Not to mention, I almost had to fight Keren (twostylishkays) over it.  You have to watch out for her! Anywho...

Express Yourself!

Hello Stylenista's,

It's still winter, ughh!  There has to be a reason for cold weather, although I have yet to find out why.  You know, when you're different, sometimes you don't see the millions of people who accept you for who you are.  All you notice is the person who doesn't - Jodi Picoult

Growing up I always felt like the oddball, the weird one or as my father so affectionately calls me the "X" factor.  I never really "fit" in.  It's amazing how long a person can go in life without really knowing who they are or really being free to be who they are.  Though I might not be all I'm suppose to be or where I'm suppose to be; I'm on my way!

Sometimes, I like playing in my closet just to see what I can come up with.  Sometimes I get and sometimes I don't.  Either way it's fun.

Road Ready

Hi Stylenista's!

"I say, dress to please yourself.  Listen to your inner muse and take a chance.
Wear something that says 'Here I Am Today" - Iris Apfel

I totally agree with this quote.  Life is too short to be concerned with what others have to say about you.  Live life to the fullest.

For a little over 2 years now, I've been on a journey.  I set out for one purpose and along the way I've learned new things about myself that I never knew existed.  So far this has been a most interesting experience.  Now when on a journey you have got to have great footwear... And I knew the moment I laid eyes on these metal heeled boots, that they would call my closet home.  As usually everything else is #thrifted.

Camo Style

 Hi there Stylenista's,

So this past weekend I did media for the Thrifting Atlanta Bus Tour.  The bus tour is a chauffeured bus ride to shop resale shops in the metro Atlanta area.  As a bus rider, you can enjoy exclusive discounts, light refreshments, giveaways and a bag lunch too.

An avid thrifter already knows what the thrifting uniform should consist of... A maxi dress or fitted top with leggings or a skirt to assist with trying on clothes just in case the dressing rooms are filled or if there aren't any dressing rooms.  Well I decided to spruce up my thrift uniform just a little. Take a look below and let me know what you think.

A Little Rough Around The Edges

Happy Hump Day Stylenista's

It's the middle of the week and we're half way to the weekend!  My dad's 60th birthday is Saturday and it's semi-formal.  The outfit that I plan on wearing will be a recreation of something I've already worn before.  Of course I'll post pics next week.  I hope it comes together.

Although I love classicness (I just made that up) of vintage.  But I also have an appreciation for other expressions of style & fashion.  Not that it matters if it's a trend or not, I'm really feeling plaid this season.  So when I saw this plaid shirt, I quickly scooped it up.  Immediately I saw at least 3 ways to style this top.  This was the first look and I like how it turned out.

Tribal Chic

Hi Stylenista's

It's Friday, we made it!!!!!

A lot of times in conversation about thrifting, non-thrifters always say  - "I can never find anything".  I never go looking for anything specific.  For me it's the thrill of the hunt - The not knowing what I'm going to find - The anticipation of wondering if the next item I see will be that one piece that will make me as happy has a kid at a candy shop. When I came across this skirt, it was a no brainer.  The next step was to decide how I was going to style it.  I think I did well...

All Mixed Up

Hi there Stylenista's

Although I'm a sucker for vintage; I love mixing prints and patterns.  In my humble opinion mixing prints is an art.  You have to be able to mix the right prints to create the ultimate look that would guarantee all types of looks and stares.

I've added pics of a few of my #thriftsisters who nailed, killed, murdered, slayed and gave life to the printmix trend.

Hi Stylenista's

Thirfting is soooo much fun.  You never know what you're going to find and not to mention it's very addictive.  I find myself at somebody's thrift store at least 2-4 times a week.  But the way I look at it, I can get quality and quantity at the same time.

Happy Monday!

80's Girl

Hi there Stylenista's

I had a fun filled weekend.  Saturday I attended Thrifting Atlanta's monthly bus tour hosted by Keren Charles of TwoStylishKays.  Although I must admit by the fourth stop I was pooped, however, I was not going to be defeated and miss out on an awesome find.

I think I'm in love with vintage fashion. - the conservative look of the 30's - the classic look of the 40's - the tailored look of the 50's - the mod look of the late 60's - not a fan of the 70's, except for the natural hair movement and the vibrant colors of the 80's.  As far a today's fashion goes, most of it is a recreation of past fashion era's.

Getting to my outfit... This blazer was a must have.  I got it while attending an event earlier this year.  My favorite part about this blazer are the different colored striped buttons.  I went back and forth about wearing this pleated hounds-tooth mini but as you can see I wore it.

Outfit Details
80s Blazer - Styleissheonline - $15.00
Pleated hounds-tooth skirt - Plato's Closet Duluth - $8.00

Bright Colors In Fall

Hi Stylenista's

My weekend was full of fun and fashion.  Saturday I volunteered at the Thrifting Atlanta Fashion Swap.  I enjoyed working behind the scenes with a few of my thriftsisters.

My look for this event was inspired by a pair of oh so fab color block/mixed print shoes.  When I saw these shoes I wasted no time placing my order.  When they came, I knew that I needed to wear them before the weather cooled down.  My headwrap was a result of me running behind and not having enough time to wrap it the way I meant to.  This wrap style was completely unintentional, but oh I killed it (in my Lil Terio voice).

Outfit Details
Top - Park Ave Thrift - $3.00
DIY Jeans - St. Vincent de Paul - $5.00
Headwrap (scarf) - H&M - $6.90
Shoes - Makemechic - $31.00
