Hey guys!  I know I haven't been consistently blogging, but man let me tell you, building a brand is hard work.  Especially working a full 9-5 (temporarily.)  Yet! I am determined to succeed.  It may not be easy, but I know it will be worth it.  Just like this skirt in today's post.  It was worth every dime I
spent on it.  All $8 and a few penny's.  Don't judge me, I work hard for my coins, lol!  But seriously, this skirt is so me; bold, colorful, different and fresh with a hint of psychedelic flair.  For some it might be intimidating, but I embrace this garment in all of it's vintage goodness.  This is actually my 3rd time wearing this skirt (see here and here.)  Although this skirt may have a dash of vintage inspiration, I managed to not look like I was a blast from the past.

The easiest and most effective options for wearing vintage without looking dated is to incorporate current pieces into your look to give it a more modern feel. Adding modern accessories or a pair of up to date shoes will do the trick.  I paired this look with a pair of platforms; even though platforms are not new on the fashion scene, this current style is.  Newer clothing items (like my t-shirt) or current hair styles and make-up will bring your look into today's era.

FaShun Pop-up Shop

How goes it !!!!

Let me first start off by saying that I'm soo excited about my future.  The harder I work on building my brand, the better I feel about what lies ahead.  Whew, I just needed to get that out!!!

About last night... I attended Stylist Shun Melson's FaShun Pop-up Shop at Negril Village Atlanta.  Aside from the the sweltering heat, the event was fun.  And although I don't know Shun personally, she was very approachable and friendly - You know some people when they "arrive" get really funky acting.  Outside of networking and meeting new people, I was also scouting out fab looks.  Posted at the end is a quick video of some of my fave looks from last night.  Speaking of looks, Get Into My Look!!!

Work-wear On A Dime

Hello Stylenista's

I hope you're having a wonder day and staying warm.  This Atlanta weather is not the business.  Although I'm sure anyone up north would laugh in my face.  This frigid weather is exactly why I told my husband he needs to move us to Tampa, FL.  Anywho!

Well if you've been following me you can probably tell that my style is somewhat versatile.  It has to be since I still work an 8-5 (but not for long).  I would really describe my personal style as eclectic, retro and modern vintage.  This look is very simple to me, but it's still cute.  It ceases to amaze me what $3-$15 can transform into.  I love that I'm blessed with creativity.  Can't wait to see where it continues to take me.

Walnut Brown Trousers - Park Ave Thrift Outlet Woodstock - $1.75

Road Ready

Hi Stylenista's!

"I say, dress to please yourself.  Listen to your inner muse and take a chance.
Wear something that says 'Here I Am Today" - Iris Apfel

I totally agree with this quote.  Life is too short to be concerned with what others have to say about you.  Live life to the fullest.

For a little over 2 years now, I've been on a journey.  I set out for one purpose and along the way I've learned new things about myself that I never knew existed.  So far this has been a most interesting experience.  Now when on a journey you have got to have great footwear... And I knew the moment I laid eyes on these metal heeled boots, that they would call my closet home.  As usually everything else is #thrifted.

Simple and Cute

Hi Stylenista's,

The weather in Georgia is fickle.  It seems like we experience all four seasons in a week.  This day was kinda chilly so I grabbed one of my favorite scarfs.

My cousin introduced me to thrifting years ago.  I wasn't entirely turned off about it, I still didn't want anyone to know that I shopped at thrift stores.  Although I didn't grow up lacking, I wasn't the girl that got to wear all the latest brand name.  Once I graduated from high school and started working I moved away from thrift shopping.  I had taken the blue pill (reference from the movie Matrix).  I got caught up.  But life has it's way of bringing one back to reality.  Reality was... I could still "look fly on a dime".

I'm Cute-ola

Hi Stylenista's

I've gotten behind in my posts.... The life of a wife, mother and entrepreneur can get overwhelming somethings.  However, the reward is well worth it.

I attended one of my #thriftsister's birthday celebration and she requested that we wear something pink or purple with pearls.  So this is what I came up with.  I really had fun with this look.  The only thing not thrifted is the skirt.  I ordered the skirt from Sheinside.  Although it was really affordable, it took about 20 days for me to receive it in the mail.

Denim Shirt - Park Ave Thrift - $2.00
Skirt - Sheinside - $13.00
Pearl Necklace - gifted - $0

Dots & Prints

Hey there Stylenista's

Happy Wednesday!  One more day and then it's Friday.

I'm not sure why, but I'm sooo looking forward to this fall season.  Maybe it's because I have a few pieces that I've been really anxious to wear (shrugs shoulders).  Anywho...

From all of my previous post, you should know that I really love mixing prints.  Today is no different.  What prints have you mixed together?

Pink & Gold

Hey there Stylenista's

I scored this ka-ute (cute) Forever21 neon pink blouse on one of the Thrifting Atlanta Bus Tour's.  Although three fashionista's tried it on, it was I who it fit best.  I could't wait to style it.  This skirt was a must have as well.

Denim & Florals

Hey there Stylenista's

Thanks for checking out my latest post!  I really appreciate it.

It amazes me to see how unintentionally I create similar looks within the same month and not even realize it. It wasn't until I was going through my photos that I noticed that I'd created the denim & floral look twice in one month.  I guess subconsciously, I was really feeling this look. I especially like the fact that both the denim tops and floral skirts were thrifted/gifted.

Outfit Details:

Plain denim top - Old Navy / gifted
Dark Floral skirt - New York & Co. / $1.75
Floral denim top - Old Navy / &2.00
Floral bottom (it's really a dress styled as a skirt) - You're A Hanger Boutique / $5.00

Total combined: Less than $10

Refashionista... Scarf/Vest/Dress

Hi there Stylenista's...

I thrifted this scarf from Park Ave Thrift right at the beginning of the summer and wasn't quite sure what to do with it.  After watching a video on Facebook, I was inspired.  Although this DIY style is not an original, I wanted to show the different ways that I was able to style this one-piece garment.

Check out how I styled this over-sized scarf or wrap....
