Hey guys!  I know I haven't been consistently blogging, but man let me tell you, building a brand is hard work.  Especially working a full 9-5 (temporarily.)  Yet! I am determined to succeed.  It may not be easy, but I know it will be worth it.  Just like this skirt in today's post.  It was worth every dime I
spent on it.  All $8 and a few penny's.  Don't judge me, I work hard for my coins, lol!  But seriously, this skirt is so me; bold, colorful, different and fresh with a hint of psychedelic flair.  For some it might be intimidating, but I embrace this garment in all of it's vintage goodness.  This is actually my 3rd time wearing this skirt (see here and here.)  Although this skirt may have a dash of vintage inspiration, I managed to not look like I was a blast from the past.

The easiest and most effective options for wearing vintage without looking dated is to incorporate current pieces into your look to give it a more modern feel. Adding modern accessories or a pair of up to date shoes will do the trick.  I paired this look with a pair of platforms; even though platforms are not new on the fashion scene, this current style is.  Newer clothing items (like my t-shirt) or current hair styles and make-up will bring your look into today's era.

White Blazer + Adidas Joggers

Heeeyyyyy!!!  Where have I been?  Chile, I've been out here trying to get my life...  I told y'all that some great things were about to pop off and I'm making sure that I'm in position.  So what have you been up to?  There's so much I want to tell you, but in due time; don't want my haters messing things up for me.  Sooo...
Are you familiar with the athleisure trend?  It's basically a mixture of leisurewear with sportswear.  And the cool thing is, it's a super easy look to pull off.  Instead of wearing a hoodie and sneakers, for my look I opt'd for a blazer and heels.

Here are a few suggestions that will help you pull off this look successfully.

DO mix and match.  A blazer, which should be a staple in your wardrobe, screams chic and sophistication.  Finishing off your look with a sneaker would completely be a game changer.  Giving your look edge appeal.  See here

DO accessorize.  Just because you're wearing athletic gear doesn't mean you have to look like you're headed straight to the gym.  More than likely you aren't anyways, oops lol!  Accessories are like herbs and spices.  They give zest and zing to an outfit.

DON'T forget to be creative.  Take one of your fave screen T's, pair it with a cute pencil or fitted skirt and complete your look with the cutest pair of pumps you have.

What do you think about this trend?  Are you a fan?  Drop a line below, lets chat about it.

The #1 Secret To "Owning It", Even When You Don't Know How!

Atlanta stylist, atlanta blogger, black blogger, black girls rock, monochrome, orange fashion, atlanta street style, mirrored glasses, charlotte russe sandals, shoedazzle handbag, handbag with tassle, natural hair fashion, atlanta street style, atlanta style influencer, forever21 accessories, style blogger, black girl killing it

Let's get into my #ootd.  But first (heads bowed/eyes closed) let's give honor to God from whom I received my kinky tresses from.  And although my hair almost always never comes out the way I envisioned it to be, I love my natural hair journey.  Now we can talk about this colored monochrome
look.  Btw, did you check out last weeks monochrome look - here?  The best part about this look is that it's #thrifted?  Even better is that it's two separate pieces that I thrifted on separate occasions aannddd the top (Ann Taylor LOFT) still had the tags attached.  What I like most about this look is that it can easily transition from office to a meeting or a weeknight dinner date with the hubs.  I owned this look, if I do say so myself.

Speaking of owning it, I almost gave up - AGAIN! But each time I try, I can't.  And when I thought about why I can't just throw in the towel; it hit me.  In years past whenever things weren't going as planned I would write in my journal and then read out loud what I wanted out of life.  I spoke so much life into my future that it makes quitting really difficult.  The #1 secrete to owning it, even when you don't know how?  Is opening up your mouth and declaring into your atmosphere what you will.  Words have Power!  Don't speak out of your emotions, emotions can change.  Speak from a place of strength, courage and boldness.  Go ahead, you got this!

The next time you're having a rough day, place your hand over your heart ~ Feel the beat ~ That's called purpose ~ You're alive for a reason ~ Don't Give UP!!! (tweet this)

Getting dressed should be fun or at least it is for me.  There's a million and one opinions on Goggle on the subject.  And what works for one person, may not necessarily work for you.   I know for me whenever I'm preparing an outfit, I like to take into consideration 4 things... 1 - The type of event 2 -
The time of day (or night) 3 - The weather and 4 - What can I wear that will cause me to stand out?  Once I answer these questions, I can narrow down the type of look I'm going for.  Take today's #ootd... As you know, I still work a 9-5 therefore, I can only be 90% great.  If I gave the full 100%, they wouldn't be able to take me, ha-ha!  Since the weather was going to be really nice today, I wanted to go for a simple and easy look.  I paired this multicolored sleeveless top with white skinnies because I wanted the top to be the focal point and the nude sandal to sorta elevate the look.

*Smiling hard* Right now I feel like a kid at a candy shop.  I tell you the truth, I'm super excited!  So much is coming down the pipe for me and I am bubbling over with anticipation and expectancy.  Here's the kicker...

I don't even have a clue as to what it is;  I just have this feeling.  You know the one, where you have butterflies in your stomach and you can't sleep or eat (but not me, I'm still eating).  All you know is that something BIG is coming.  My goal is to be ready when it gets here.

Have you ever considered diy'ing garments in your closet that no longer service it's original purpose?  Take this skirt for instance, it was given to me for the purposes of destroying it.  The style of the skirt pre-diy wasn't flattering at all.  Sooo I grabbed a pair scissors and a spray bottle of bleach and got to work.  Once I got done Edward Scissorhanding this skirt, I washed it (by itself because of the bleach) and dried it to give it the fray and distressed look.  But there's really no right or wrong way to distress denim.  Just be creative.

Bubble Gum Pink Blazer + Gold Caged Heels

Atlanta style blogger, style blogger, Atlanta blogger, Atlanta stylist, Forever21, pink blazer, Midi skirt, Gold heels, caged heels, gold accessories, Style style, black bloggers, black girls rock, black girls killing it, Style influencer, Atlanta stylist, natural hair fashion, Atlanta street fashion

Hey y'all!  Hope your day is off to a productive start.  I plan on making the most of this Thursday.  And this weather in the "A" is wonderful.  Not to hot, just the right amount of breeze.  This is the type of weather for short shorts and skirts.  Can I tell you something?
This is Your time!  You are where you are for a reason!  Now make the  most of it!!

Would you believe me if I told you that I hated the color pink?  Growing up I was sooo anti pink.  It was such a girly color and I was far from girly.  Give me a pair of baggy jeans and an over-sized shirt and I was good.  Funny thing now, is that I'm starting to like this ol' girly color.

When it comes to my wardrobe and my personal style preference, I like to mix things up.  I'm not sure if I even have a signature look.  I pretty much wear what I want.  Have you been envisioning yourself in looks that you feel aren't you?  What's keeping you from at least trying it out?  Even as a stylist, I used to have moments of body envy.  I see what looks good on other people and I'm like, I would never look that good in something like that.  But I wouldn't know if I don't try it on?  As a young child my mother use to tell me, "Try it, You might like it."  If you're toying with the idea of a new look; Play On, by friend, play on!

Drop a line below or email me (thestyleklazit@gmail.com) your style questions or concerns.  I'd love to hear from you.

Hey guys!  It's kinda been a while since I last posted.  Although I've been pretty busy lately, but I still could have found time to check in with you.  Now I'm going to be real transparent and tell you why...
I was going to quit. Yep, just give up!  Why?  Because I wasn't seeing the results that I'd hope to see.  Living in a microwave society where patience is rarely a virtue, I thought that by now I would be this grandiose, extraordinary, bomb stylist/style blogger.  But life has a way of teaching you a valuable lesson.  NOTHING worthwhile comes without a price. (tweet this if you believe this)

After about a month of trying to give up and wallowing in self pity, I decided that enough was enough.  I had to reaffirm myself that I was qualified and that I have what it takes and I will be successful in my craft.  The same goes for you!!!  You are the best at what you do.

I'd like to shout out my husband, Robert for always having my back even when he has no idea what I'm talking about.  I'd like to thank my sister/friend Kisha Rose for talking some sense back into me.  I'd also like to thank all the other females that I admire for paving the way for me.  Last, I thank you, for stopping by my corner of the universe and listening to my mini soapbox speech.

Purple Mixed Prints

A few weeks ago I did a periscope on how to successfully mix prints.
This look was one of the looks that I used in my demonstration.  I was able to pull this look off by matching the purple in the skirt with the purple print in the top.  Both pieces have the same colors just different prints.  I added the gold belt to cinch my waist (the skirt was a tad bit to big) and to bring out the gold in my top and shoes.

The White After Labor Day Rule

Okay! I will admit it.  It took me a minute to wrap my mind around wearing white after labor day.  In my neck of the woods, white after labor day was blasphemy.  I often wondered why it was such a faux pas, but the only explanation I got was; you're just not suppose to.  After a little research I'm still not completely sure why that ever became a fashion don't.  Whatever the case, this fashion offense doesn't apply today.  Check out my white after labor day look...

Shoedazzle at Sassy City Chicks "Girls Night Out"

I've been a ShoeDazzle brand ambassador for almost a year now.  Honestly one of the best parts of being  an ambassador are the perks.  Don't get me wrong, SD is one of the best and budget friendly, might I add, online shoe boutiques around.  Offering the top shoe trends to compliment your individual style.  So when I received the email to help represent the brand, I didn't think twice.  With my sistagirl Kisha Rose by my side it was bound to be a shoetastic (is this a word) night!  The event was hosted by The Sassy City Chicks brand that offers shopping events geared towards the sophisticated cosmopolitan female between the ages of 21-45 years in search of a ‘girls night out’ experience through beauty, fashion and style.

Double Denim

It's Monday!  Don't forget to be awesome!!

Last Thursday I had an opportunity to volunteer my styling services at an organization for single women who are or have been victims of sex crimes.  The event was hosted by Fab'rik boutique.  Now although I've been through some pretty rough situations in my life, fortunately, I've not had to experience some of the things that these ladies have endured.  It further allowed me to know that life could always be worst.  I'll definitely be volunteering again.

Today's look is thrifted and DIY.

Fashionably Noted Brunch

Whewww! What a weekend....  But I'm not going to complain, this is what I signed up for.  Anywho, on Sunday I attended the Fashionably Noted Brunch sponsored by Sapphire Inc PR.  I was excited to see that Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista and Kameka Johnson of Kami Cosmetics along with NaChera "Cherry" Brown and Toni Washington as the featured panelist.

Since I'm transitioning from my 9-5 to full-time entrepreneurship I need all the advise and tips I can get.  Each of these ladies had some great advice to offer.

  • Cherry said that if you're really serious about your business, you need to develop a business plan and get SWOT Analysis.
  • Marie Denee's advise was to get a domain name.  There's nothing worst then coming up with your brand name only to find out that the domain name isn't available.
  • With the different trends of makeup, Kami added that getting a good bronzer for your skin tone is important.  And that extreme contouring should be banished forever.
  • The most crucial piece to being successful is to find your voice and be consistent - Tony
Of course a lot more was said, however, these were the gems that spoke to me.

I know, I know you were wondering what I wore.  This skirt was E-VER-Y-Thing and more.  It was kinda a lot to deal with, but - it was all worth it.

Black On Black

Black... You can almost never go wrong wearing black.  It's bold, chic, elegant, slimming and goes with just about anything.  If styled properly, it will look good on anybody, any skin tone or hair color.  Black should be a staple item in everybody's closet.  Whether it be a LBD, a blazer or a pair of pants; it's essential.

I know some people kind of stay away from wearing black in the warmer months because "black attract heat".  Yea, if you're wearing a sweat suit combat boots and a hoodie!  Wearing darker colors in the warmer months require a little finesse.  The goal is to find pieces that allow the skin to breathe; light weight materials such as your silks, linens.  Don't dismiss the option to accessorize with bold statement pieces or a pop of color will do the trick too.

Destroyed Denim

Hello Stylenista's,

Last month I had a birthday - Yyyyeeeaaaa!!!  Although I'm a little picky and somewhat finicky it doesn't take a lot to make me happy.  I love my husband for all the effort he puts into making my day special.  Aside from what he gets me, I don't really expect anyone else to get me anything.  However, to my surprise my two thrift bff's (Tiffany @mrscuteasabutton and NeShanta @msstyleisshe) gifted me with some fabulous items.  One of my birthday gifts was this denim skirt and immediately I knew that I was going to destroy this skirt.  With little vision in mind and a giant pair of scissors I started cutting.  My husband was like you're just scissor happy; my reply was that it was going to be one of the best looking distressed skirts of all time.  After nearly loosing a finger and almost choking to death because of the bleach fumes - I  present to you............. Destroyed Denim!

Just Having Fun

Happy Monday Stylenista's!

I had another great weekend!!!  My birthday was last week and my husband, as always, went out of his way to make sure I had a great birthday.  Man I love my hunni bunni!!!

Now let's talk about my look.  I didn't really plan this look it just sorta came together.  One of my home girls posted a pic where she wore a pair of iridescent sunnies.  I knew then that I would be adding a pair to the collection.  I really had fun with this look.  My fave is the radio print t-shirt which I got from The Children's Place while I was suppose to be shopping for my son.  Being petite has it's advantages.  Just so you know.... I'm really feeling this radio print t-shirt and the neon yellow bag and this polka-dot blazer and these black/white stripped shorts and pretty much this entire look.

Fall Colored

Hey Stylenista's

I'm really gettin' into this fall weather.  Although I still have some summer pieces I would like to wear, I'm really excited about my fall wardrobe.

Some people are of the mindset that fall and winter means dark and neutral colors.  I tend to wear fun colors year round.  Although I try to stay in the know of all the trends each year, I'm more comfortable creating my own trend #createyourownlook.

Check out my entire thrifted look (except the sock & shoes)

The Office...

Hi There Stylenista's

It's officially fall and the weather in Atlanta is uugghhh!  I remember when I took these pics, it was hot.  I had to find a nice shady area so that I wouldn't have sweat dripping from my face. As always, my look is thrifted.  Creating different looks for penny's on a dollar is sooo rewarding.

Denim & Florals

Hey there Stylenista's

Thanks for checking out my latest post!  I really appreciate it.

It amazes me to see how unintentionally I create similar looks within the same month and not even realize it. It wasn't until I was going through my photos that I noticed that I'd created the denim & floral look twice in one month.  I guess subconsciously, I was really feeling this look. I especially like the fact that both the denim tops and floral skirts were thrifted/gifted.

Plain denim top - Old Navy / gifted
Dark Floral skirt - New York & Co. / $1.75
Floral denim top - Old Navy / &2.00
Floral bottom (it's really a dress styled as a skirt) - You're A Hanger Boutique / $5.00
